You gotta be "cool as ice" to drive a 5.0. When I heard the new 5.0 was comin out I was hoping for a pushrod engine again, not a 4.6 liter with .4L more displacement. There was a light blue brand new GT at the drag strip last week with a 32valve 5.0 in it. I'm not sure what it ran though. I think it was with American Muscle magazine or something cause it had photographers following it and magazine stickers on it.

The 4.6 is a pile of ****. Its the weakest 4.6Lish engine I have seen in recent memory. The only time it was ever woth a damn in NA form was in the Machs and the 3V applications, and even then it was basically outgunned by damn near anything mentionable from GM.

The new 5.0 on the other hand appears to be made to actually go fast and not suck. It's about as different from a 4.6 as a LSX is from a 305 TBI. Similar displacement to a point, but in the end vastly different.

Count me excited to see what the 5.0 can do. With 4 cams, 5L, provisions for DI, etc, it better be pretty ******* sweet.

I am in for swapping the new 5.0 into police interceptors and screwing with people.

The dohc 4v 4.6 is one of the best engines, IMO.
The 2v is a pile of ****.

Evolution's 5.0 ran 10.5s @127mph with bolt-ons & a 100 shot. 1.40 60'.

Midpipe/catback, stock headers, CAI, tune, upper/lowers/panhard bar, 100 shot. Ya, sprayed but 10.5 is stupid fast.

Thanks. Can't see YT at work, so I blindly copied and pasted and didn't know if it worked.

By the way Stein, (proguru here) the subframe is holding together like a champ. My welds are not nearly as clean as I did mine in the car. I've been beating it pretty good, and she's holding.

The video that I posted is Landon's car(MX5.7). That thing is wicked fast. I'd be nearly a full second faster at his altitude, but I'm hoping to be running mid 12s on street tires at Bandimere this summer.

Sadly yes the new camaro is pretty fail. If they weighed 3500# like the 4th gens it would be wayyyyy better. I also agree that the new 5.0 is pretty sweet and I'm a GM guy

3900 pounds. Thats a heffer of a car. I bet they feel like unresponsive tug boats. As soon as my injectors get here, I should be able to take one out no problem.
