I ask a simple question: What does the adjustable pressure switch adjust? There's a screw that is supposed to be the adjustable part of this switch. So WTF is so adjustable about it?

Simple right?

I started a thread on 12/3 and the head guy Richard Lamb even asked in a PM what switch I had exactly and STILL no answer. Look at all the guys that have posted silly-assed non-answers.

i think they have more than one type.

So the switch shuts off the power to the pump (to which the switch is connected?)?

So how does the switch know how high the pressure is?

Where does the switch measure the pressure?

So if I increase the pressure at which the swicth shut off the pump, the pump runs longer?

What effect does this have on the CC/min of the nozzle?

Sort of looks like you should connect the 1/8" pipe nipple to a vacuum/pressure line so that it can sense boost pressure.

this looks like a vacuum boost activation switch it migth have some sort of sensor in it to act as a map sensor but ultimatley it just turns the system on at a predesignated boost level. Your pumping pressure should be adjusted at the pump itself and that would effect the spray cc/min via the square root of the (new pressure/ flow rate test pressure) times your original flow. i hope this helps. Are you havig problems? or just being curius?

I'm just curious.

When the part is called an "ADJUSTABLE Pressure Switch", I wanna try adjusting it.

Though I don't think it would do anything for me as I'm turning the WI on using the Split Second.

hook up the system and try it (in a bucket, not your motor--hydrolock bad)

it basically (iirc) keeps water flowing when the HSV is open on mine. when you open the valve (injector sorta) it drops the system pressure and that switch will turn on the pump to build pressure again.

it becomes a PWM system essentially. the lower the Adjustable Pressure Switch is set, the less time the pump is on.

set it low and the pump will come on, build a tiny bit of pressure, and shut off again. water dribbles out of the valve/nozzle and the pressure drops. the pump comes on again.

set it normally (80-120 psi? i forget) and it will stay on to maintain constant line pressure and the nozzle will spray a nice fine mist. when you shut the high speed valve the pressure builds to over the set value and the pump shuts off.

I think I have the 2C.

I got the kit used and it came with the HSV, the race pump, and the adjustable pressure switch. I'm using the Split Second AIC to control the nozzle.

It's a Hobbs switch. Search and you'll find your answers. You put it inline to tell the pump or solenoid when to start. The psi at when the circuit closes is what is adjustable. Some are from 4-10 psi, some from 5 to 30. Depends on the switch.
