5 guys and NNO are both awesome, but for very different reasons. The above is absolutely true.

+10!

In & Out even has little maps available so you can plan your road-trips accordingly. If you get a chance, its highly recommended. Be warned, you may never want another burger from a fast food joint evar again.

edit: Get those damn yellow chili peppers and have fun burning your face off, or your friends faces...

Well that may be because the fries they give you are usually hot out of the frier, which means they usually still have grease on them lol.

Like I said, I have no basis for comparison. I'll have to try an in-n-out burger eventually.

It's kinda like the prom queen vs a **** star. Or a pizza vs steak.

In N out, is so good, so clean, smells good, feels good, you don't feel bad about doing it. You can just tell the quality by looking at it. A real pleasure.

5 Guys... well honestly it's just as good... maybe even better... but you washed your **** with alcohol afterwards... and had trouble looking in the mirror. Quality? PSSH, but it was still by far the best you ever had.

Oh, yeah. The sausage McGriddle sandwich with egg and "cheese" is a virtual panoply of wholesomeness.

(****, they're tasty, though. Ask for a little packet of strawberry jam and spread it over the eggloaf portion of the sandwich. )

the mcmuffin family is so easy to duplicate...

toast english muffin

put one unscrambled egg in a microwave safe dish, microwave for 20-30 seconds or until cooked to your taste

fry up a perfect circular slice of ham

assemble hot with slice of american cheese and a healthy dose of salt.

eat and win.

One thing I'll miss about here in Charleston is the gourmet burger places. I never cared much for burgers and I've been to INO, 5 Guys, Hardees, McD, etc. The burgers are made from local beef with farmer's market veggies, homemade pickles and all that. You can get anything on it like guac, mango, a fried egg, and all the normal stuff. No comparison. I wouldn't wait in a line that long even for one of those.

I ate at I&O once the first time I was in L.A. and once when we were in southern Utah (only because it was a little different from the typical FF joints that we have here). I say "meh" at best for it. I was not impressed. However, Whataburger is the King's dick and I could eat that **** all day long. I can't wait to go where I can get more of that pure win. For now, my burger treat is Zesto's.

(BTW...you SC people know how much Rush's detroys any other burger joints around here)

I live in whataburger central, and while it does rock *****, I would say 5 guys and INO are markedly better. I find it interesting how scattered out preferences are.

Try it with some really good smoked Canadian bacon and a slice of gruyere or provolone. It's so good you'll accidentally eat your hands.

They closed all the Whataburgers in Gainesville and it's bullshit. Breakfast from 11 to 11? Yes.

Way to ***** out a westcoast burger joint... now all that bragging in basic training goes out the window. (For some damn reason in my training flight we got into an arguement of which side of the US had better stuff, right down to states we lived in... Not much here in Nevada, but In 'n out.

There was one across from Calico Jack's on Newberry, in that funny triangle island between whatever that side street is and Newberry. It was ALWAYS packed so I can't see why it closed.
