Default audi RS4

My boss let me take his RS4 to run to a hearing this morning. I have tons of respect for the car, and i love the looks of it, but I was unimpressed by the acceleration. Pushing a V8 to 8000 rpm is fun, but it didn't pull as hard as i thought it should. I guess the 3700+ lb. curb weight is to blame. It is still impressive that it is peppy as it is while weighing almost 2 tons.

I wonder if R8 owners that have the same engine as the RS4 have the same disappointment with the performance. Has anyone on this board run with an R8/RS4/S5/S6/S8 before?

no, just a hopped up v8.

Most people think cars like that are fast...we drive cars that put down the same #'s at the wheels at half the weight with much shorter gearing. Our cars scare people.

My ride in an RS4 was quite a different experience. A former member of our car club (uconn car club) has one. He took me for a ride down a back road and he is an AMAZING driver. With some rally experience under his belt and a little track time he was able throw that huge car around like no other.... then we pulled back into the parking lot where the car show had been earlier in the day and started doing AWD slides all over the lot. Insane driver + sick car = hell of a time

The disapointing thing is that my good friends Stage 3 B5 S4 (2001) is much faster and almost as civilized... for half the price or less
