Includes mount.
They look like they might play low.

Alright, pulling this back up.

Anyone have a head unit to recommend? I'm only going to be bluetoothing pandora from my Nexus One. It having a CD slot or radio reception are just nice features.

I really want my music to sound clear. Most of of the time I set my EQ to vocal. More than anything I want something to make clear sounds in the human singing range (have hearing issues with picking out voices from background noise). I just got some nice (maybe? recommended to me) speakers, and my head unit seems to be dying, not to mention I'm sick of connecting my phone with an audio cable.

Or search for "XTC foam baffle"

I cut about 1/3 of the back and side off, but left the front flange. Worked well with a pair of Polk db 651 6.5" speakers in the new project.

Pioneer DEH-P880PRS if you can find one. The DEX-P99RS is the newer version of it but is really expensive.

Because has auto-eq and time-align. Now I know what to get next. The Audyssey feature on my Onkyo receiver is awesome. Now I'm glad I can have that in a car.

The DEH-P880PRS is a lot cheaper but yes it is packed full of lots of SQ goodness for that price. I love mine.

The new one is the EXPENSIVE one. I am not sure why Pioneer decided to have nothing between their normal line and the SQ model that was more like in the $300-$500 range rather than that $1100+ model.

Auto EQ is nice but I usually hand-tune mine. But for EQ it has a 16-band EQ built into the head unit which can be tuned for an individual source. The radio and the iPod have separate EQs for example.

Time alignment is fantastic. It basically time delays the individual speaker channels so it is as if they are all placed equidistant from your head. The imaging and the stage are dramatically improved.

I think we have differing opinions on what super expensive is.

325$ head unit = omgwtf? o.O

I don't see how autoeq is helpful then, I only listen to pandora like I said, I don't need multiple eq settings? And I'm only using two speakers, why would I need time delay?

Edit: Does this thing even have bluetooth? I'm not seeing it in the feature listing.

You want time delay because your left speaker is closer than your right speaker.

No, it doesn't even have bluetooth. Not really interested in that one, then. It doesn't meet half of my requirements... sound clear and have bluetooth. :P

No bluetooth. If you are not looking for all-out SQ and need to go low budget then the DEH-P880 is probably not your best choice. It is intended for SQ installations.

In my old turbo Miata DD I had separate channels for tweeters, mids, and woofers (8" Daytons in the doors). In other words, active 6-way. When I had it all tuned up it was really amazing how good it sounded, like a good system in a living room rather than a car stereo. Smooth response, great clarity, soundstage above the dash, and excellent imaging.

Sounds fine to me. Do you have any recommendation for a clear sounding unit that has bluetooth? The most speakers I'll be using with this are going to be 2x 6.5's. The car is partially stripped, the top is always down. I wouldn't be able to hear all out SQ even if I had it.

No idea. Whatever you can find in a decent brand, with what you want, that is within your budget, is probably what you need. Find a unit, and google it to see if you can find some BBS discussions.

Check out http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ as they seem to have decent prices.

if you can find an alpine PXE H660, they recently dropped the price to 249 but they now appear to be discontinued.

Anyway, any stereo with the feature you want plus that thing = best sound for cheapest price.

I recently got hold of an original Alpine 7909 for my Miata. It's got NO features except a CD-changer input that can be modified for an auxiliary input. I'll be playing it through a Zuki 6-channel class A/B amp.
