Anyone here an Aprilia dealer?
I know this is a long shot, but I am working on a project for a friend. He has a 2001 Aprilia that he bought with only one key, and he has since lost it and has no record of the key number.
I am a locksmith. I have the skills to use a technique called "impressioning" to USUALLY reverse engineer the key in question. However, it can take a lot of time and I usually go through several key blanks until I figure it out.
The MUCH EASIER way to handle this is to cut from code, but I don't have the key code. I am hoping perhaps someone here has some way to look up a motorcycle by VIN and tell me what the corresponding key code might be. It is a long shot - but it will save me quite a bit of time.
As it stands, my friend can get a new ignition cylinder, but it might cost him $100 or so and then he would have to get a separate helmet lock. If I can make his ignition key he won't need that.
Here's hoping.
