Default Changing my mind again :(

So I was pretty much set on getting a truck when my lease was up(5 more months) and a trailer so I can tow my car to the track. This season I drove the car to and from the track now it wasn't the worst but it did kind of sucked at times. Also I wasn't able to bring a jack or spares or really anything I might need. Also I worried about breaking down or crashing. So getting a truck sounds like the smart thing to do.

Heres the problem I ******* hate trucks and SUVs as I type this I take the train to work so I really don't drive much and the truck could work BUT it looks like I will be getting a job that will have me traveling all over. They pretty much told me 80% of the job is driving. I am not sure I could live with driving a pickup everyday :(.

I still have plans to go spec so I will need this setup down the road but maybe at that time I will have the coin to have another car and just use the truck when needed. So what do you guys think how many of you just say **** it and drive the car to the track. Let me know what you think I am open to new ideas.

probably around 400 lbs. Most cars like the wrx wagon or something will be limited to around 2000lbs...so you need to make your race car around 1700!

Pontiac G8...I'm sure it has enough power and brakes to be good for towing...though you might want to swap out the suspension to handle the extra weight...which would probably make the damn thing handle better anyway...

Ha. I am not sure its the brakes or the power you need to worry about in a sports car. Its the tranny.

OT on towing with standard cars: At track days here, or amature race series you will se 90% the race cars being towed to the track with standard station wagons. I bought our Volvo 940 Wagon -97 with the intent to tow my race car with it and it works just fine. Yes, 2,3L and 4 cylinders of low pressure turbo fury - no problem. Why are the manufacturers specifying that towing 1,5tons with a standard 3-series BMW, a Volvo V70 or a Merc E-class is just fine? Because it is.

I'd grab an older Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T before I'd get a GM.

When I was looking at the TDI wagon I did read that in most European countries its pretty much the norm to tow with a car or wagon. I am not really sure why the rate is so low on the car over here. I think its better to play it safe as I am towing 3 hours plus one way

That could work. I really need to get some weights on a trailer. I did weigh my car on race scales and it was 2500. So 3300 is cutting is pretty close plus I will have gas cans tools **** like that so. Also don't forget my fat ***

I have my doubts that the Europeans are pulling their race cars on a trailer with a sedan like a 3 series BMW. A dolly maybe, but not a trailer.

My bad, maybe the V70 wasn't the best example. But both my Volvo 940 and my BMW 320i tow 1600kg = 3550lbs.

How about a 5-series BMW?
