Went to Georgia this weekend and found an 18 pack of Bud Select leftover from the end of wakeboarding season in the fridge up there. Born on date of August '08. I brought it back with me.
It's not a connoisseur's beer to start with, and it's not fresh. But "times is hard."
I'll drink it while I'm sucking down all of this pollen and can barely breathe through my nose anyway. I've got to finish getting the boat ready, and there's yellow dust everywhere.

last night's beer of the day:
this was really really good. indistinguishable to me from a true bavarian dunkel weizen. and so dark and cloudy you couldn't see through it with a flash light. tasty.
Hopmonk Dunkelweizen ABV 5.2%
Bavarian-style Dark Wheat Beer
Unfiltered, top-fermented wheat beer brewed with dark roasted malted wheat and caramelized malted wheat in addition to pale malted barley. The complex flavors produced by the Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen yeast strain are enhanced by the roasted flavors from the dark malts.

summer solstice isn't out yet though but we did get some of their specials which are not bottled unless noted:
AVBC Pilsner
20th Anniversary Imperial IPA (brought home a 22oz!)
Belgian White
Fresh Hop Pale Ale (hops grown on site)
Port Barrel aged Stout (aged 7 yrs in port barrels)
that last one was, at first, kinda bizzare but it totally grew on me. had a very wine-like sweet aftertaste that just hung out in your mouth. unfortunately it's a VERY limited supply and they only bottled 150 bottles plus whatever is there at the brewery. and we didn't get a growler full.
then later that day?
a few beers Russian River Brewing Company (Santa Rosa, CA) makes.

I have been working my *** off for the last month, 12-16 hour days for the last two weeks getting ready for a very important client visit (cannot share details, not yet). One more work day today, in full business suit attire, and then I am on vacation... I think I will be picking up some choice beer on the way home from work this evening to celebrate.

last nights beers:
First, the Hairy Eyeball from Lagunitas. I didn't get to go there when I was in Petaluma, but I shoulda. Anyway, the beer was described to me as a porter but the bartender was so far off. It was more of a dark, strong ale with lots of malt. It was on the thick side and somewhat sweet.
Second, (yes, I was in the "H" section) was the H&I. I really liked this with my mac and cheese w/ham. It's an unfiltered hopped beer. And it was very smooth and drinkable. A little bitter, a little hoppy, a little fruity, but none overwhelming. Color was a nice orangey amber with cloudiness. It would be a great beer to keep in the workshop because of its low ABV and high drinkability and enjoyable flavor.

LOL @ Mickey's. In college I was more of an OE 800 guy myself. But we did buy a boatload of Mickey's for a party one time, after we photoshopped my buddy's license from SC (not very intricate) to make him 21. Printed it out on a garden variety inkjet and laminated it. Maybe the clerk was fooled, or maybe he just didn't give a ****, but it worked. Like most people who drink Mickey's, we were underage and desperate.
Laurelwood, a microbrewery in Portland, made a malt liquor that I tried at the OBF a few years ago. It was pretty damn good, but still a malt liquor.
Last night I had a Hofbrau maibock:
Just a touch less malty than I like in a maibock but otherwise good.

How many of you have a plate at the saucer?? I have a friend that just finished his 10th plate. He said he estimates that he has spent about $30,000 at the saucer in the last four years. I only have 180 more until I get my first!!
