A lot of people don't like the cherry wheat because the cherries are more like cough-syrup cherries than fresh cherries or something, but I think it's delicious.

Got a chance to visit a Chicago microbrew a few weeks ago and work on some of my equipment they have on their packaging line....

Their "EuGene Porter" is amazing. one of the best porters I have had. not too heavy.
Their "Bottom Up Wit" is a great Belgian style similar to a hoegaarden.
If you are in the Chicago area give them a try!

I really like the Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale from Founders, but my favorite Founder's product might have to be the Breakfast Stout.
I went to the bar after work and I drank a Lost Coast Double Trouble. It was a Double IPA, 8.5%abv. I wasn't that impressed with it. I then drank an Angry Orchard Cider...I thought it was a decent selection just to switch it up from what I'd normally drink. The bar I went to didn't have any draft under $4, so I wasn't too eager to spend $30 to feel the night.
I'm home now, drinking a Smutty Nose IPA. I have a cold though, and this actually goes well with the taste of Afrin Nasal spray, Chloraseptic throat spray, and halls menthol cough drops. It actually makes it taste almost as shitty as the Ithaca Pumpkin Ale I had on tap last night.
My pumpkin ale favorite? Southern Tier Pumpking is #1. If you can find it on draft, Southern Tier Pumpking "oak aged" Pumpking beats regular Pumpking, but good luck finding it.
Every other pumpkin ale is generic. I use the word "generic" as referring to a "wanna be" or "immitation".
The Sinead O'Connor song "Nothing compares to you" was actually written about Southern Tier Pumpking.

well it SMELLS like slightly roasty maple syrup (yum)
but the flavor is distinctly smoked beer (well)
anyway it's interesting. I first saw it at the Portland Voodoo donut and did not get it (just a bunch of donuts because damn, couture donuts) so when I saw it at the local whole foods... bought. Figured it'd make an interesting sip for after thanksgiving.

Tonight's choice after spending the whole day black Friday shopping with my 4 month old son (who is the best behaved little boy ever), my shop-o-holic wife, and my mother in law...it's time to cut loose.
I bought a variety case of Flying Dog last week. Tonight I'm drinking the Oyster Stout, and chasing it with Midnight Moon Apple Pie Moonshine. My buddy thinks it's real moonshine, but I beg to differ. I mean, come on, it's 70 proof and you can buy it at a liquor store. I had to try it anyway cause I hear so much raving about it...and holy ****. This stuff is AMAZING. I think it should be at least 100 proof, cause all I taste is apple pie, a little alcohol would give it that extra that it needs. I recommend spending the $18.99 on a Mason jar of this stuff and trying it!

Well after weeks of being sick and not having any taste buds or spending too much time putting tile in my bathroom, I have never installed tile, I finally got out of the house for a tasty brew. I had a couple of Kwak,s, a rather tasty Belgian ale. Now I'm having a Winter Solstice by Anderson Valley Brewing Co. Rather good and a nice change of pace. Very much like an English ale but with a note of caramel yet not sweet so its perfect after the Kwak. I would take a pic but my phone has no flash and the light sucks. Thankfully the beer doesn't.

Oh is it? Cause I beg to differ. Even though I haven't had it, I can say that if you make a black and tan out of Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA and Dogfish Head World Wide Stout, (it's called a Heaven and Hell), I'm pretty certain it would be way better than a chili pepper ale.

Old School, I cant imagine liking a beer with chilli pepper essence but you left coast guys have Lagunitas. Mama said give credit where credit is due and thats all I have to say about that.

When you say your from nor cal I'm guessing you mean SanFran. I'm in Eureka four hour drive north of you and still in Cali. Try the lost coast WinterBraun its ok I'm opening one up as you read this. 8%alcohol . Tired and burned out with the downtown brown. Which is funny my last name is brown.

Lost Coast is pretty decent. Great White is my "go to" when I can't find anything other than macrobrew, and the 8Ball stout is pretty great as well.
But seriously dude, are you from Humboldt or did you get stuck in Arcadia after college? Get out and travel man, there is great beer (and weed, if thats your thing) all over this country. The cascades happen to be blessed with great water and perfect hop growing weather, but NorCal is not the be-all end-all location on the planet. Go to Russian River and get a Pliny the Elder or Damnation on tap, or head up north the visit the guys from Rogue, Deschutes or Ninkasi and check out what they are doing. Go to Colorado and visit Avery or Left Hand. San Francisco has 21st Amendment and Anchor Brewing (who make the only surviving example of the first native style of beer to the US) or head further south and visit Stone or Ballast Point. Seriously man, get out more.
