Default Anyone else abhor xmas?

******* thing sucks!

I don't want to go to the mall and buy a bunch of bullshit gifts and waste my only ******* day off dealing with **** that's going to make me consider doing something that will certainly show up on the news. This **** is ridiculously ghey and stupid. I'd rather just go eat dinner and drink a badass bottle of wine. God damn this is a waste of time and energy.

There are 3 factions in my family:
mom and step-father
father and step-mother
sister and bf

None of these factions talk to any other. My sister and her bf are the only reasonable ones. I have enough money to live reasonably, but I don't feel like spending a day in a mall figuring out what to buy my sister's bf's mother's husband for xmas.Oh yeah, and god is a fabrication which pretty much makes "the birth of jesus" thing a horseshit fairytale too.

My perfect xmas would be a lot like thanksgiving this year...a bunch of my friends (including sister and bf), a day of cooking and drinking fantastic wine. Instead, I'm supposed to buy a bunch of ****, put it in a box, wrap it, then put that in another box, and ship it in time for Xmas.

I hear you on the gift stuff. Everyone in my family just buys what they want anyways. Also I hear you on the god is fabricated...but it makes some people happy, so what're you gonna do? I must say my family is easier to get along with than yours sounds, so I don't mind the visiting at all.

Hustler is the LAST person I ever thought I would agree with! Well, in part, anyway.

agree 10000%

luckily im only 20 and a broke college student so i can get away with just getting my parents something. even that is a pain in my ***.

Selfish? i dont think so, because i could really care less about people giving me gifts. i always feel guilty, especially when my parents spend too much money that i know they probably dont have.

Come on, dysfunctional-family hostility is one of the things that make the holidays special! When else is it so easy to **** somebody off by trying to be nice to them(except for the wife, which is always)?

At least we've come up with a gift procedure that keeps you out of the mall -

1 - Buy some good wine
2 - Drink it yourself
3 - Give left-over money to CT Food Bank

Unfortunately, can't do anything about the rest of the world losing its mind.

This is the first year I got everyone a present. I got everything offline and did it about a month ago. The past couple years I have neglected my nieces and nephews, as well as everyone else I know. This year I said **** it and decided to take the time to be generous.

Even thought Hustler has a disfunctional family...I agree with him. This forum leads you to believe that Hustler is an ******* who will never turbo his car, but after this...I get it. Yeah, wtf is Christmas? Who here is Christian's anyway? Why is this a government regulated celebration to buy **** nobody needs to feel better about yourself? **** that...it's all a bunch of **** to me..."throw me in a ocean."

my answer to my mom when she asks what I want for xmas is "make some awesome food and burn something in teh fireplace" and that's about it.

we all buy what we want anyway. and the stuff we dont buy, we can't afford. and the stuff we cant afford, nobody's going to buy for us.

so lets make it about the fam and friends and stay away from the mall.

here's to not seeing my fundamentalist aunt and uncle while I'm in town!

I couldn't agree more. If my G/F wasn't practically a southern baptist with lots of family to visit, I'd tell her we are going to go see a movie on x-mas. I myself have my own family shenanigans to attend to. Like...oh I dunno...baking a freaking cake for jesus. God...how in the world did I let that tradition live on?

I bought myself a ton of **** for xmas. I also graduated so i've gotten some money from that from people. Gift wise I don't normally get **** for gifts though. The gifts I give are usually well thought out and needed by the people I get them for. Not worthless knick-knacks to sit around the house such as in a drawer forever.

I want santa to bring me a Glock .40, too bad he voted for Obama and I won't be getting ****.

I've got kids, I like Christmas. I bought my 4 year old the Millennium Falcon, he's going to **** when he opens it. Then after he's passed out from the orgy of gluttony that is Christmas I'll get to play with it.

Christmas FTW, you heartless bunch of ******* robots.

this will be my first year without a christmas, my parents moved to california, nobody bought a tree and we bought the bare minimum gifts for the people we had to. we bought nothing for each other as we're making settlement on our house next month.

Things i don't like about christmas:
i can easily spend a **** ton of money on gifts and get useless garbage in return. (i'm hard to shop for because nobody has a clue about my interests). gift buying sucks. And the tree never made a whole lot sense to me either, you take a perfectly good tree and buy it so that you can watch it die in your house.

things i do like about christmas: it's fun for kids and it's nice to see family and eat like a king

This on a forum where a bunch of people wanted a Santa hat put in their avatar?

I was hoping someone sane would chime in,
Merry Christmas to you and your family Jay.

I've been married for 18 years. My wife knows that I DO NOT celebrate:
bdays
xmas
anniversary

My wife puts a tree up and lights but I do not help. She buys presents for a few people for xmas and bdays but that is it. For me, every day is the same as the last. I don't celebrate ****...

Oh, for those of you who are not married yet - you MUST make your girl understand that she can have anything she wants any day of the year but nothing special for VD day, bday, etc. Love is love, all that other stuff is BS...
