You gotta wonder how many times that sort of things happens every day, except that a US helicopter isn't there to film it.

Does anyone know what kind of device that actually was, and what the detonator mechanism on said weapon is? I know virtually nothing about how to set off unexploded ordinance.

155mm? The WWII russian KV2 tank used a shell about that size, i think it is a large artillery shell

I mean, what does the detonator on those consist of? Is it just a percussion cap on the nose of the shell, or something fancier?
