Black Friday Sales

One of those $200 Sharp 42" LCD's that were at Best Buy just popped up on my CL for $350. I sent an email offering $250. I figure $50 would be about as much of a premium as I'd be willing to pay to avoid waiting in line...
...and just got a reply that they already have an offer for $320.
...Asked the guy how long he waited. He said the store had 12 units, he got #12 and had been in line since noon on Thanksgiving.

I'm not really sure I understand why a store would even close on Thanksgiving. I know that very few people would shop that day... but how about leaving the store open all night so there's no crazy rush like that. As a retailer, you could avoid all the hassle, liability, media attention to the fact that somebody got trampled to death or beheaded by the security gate and just leave the store open all night.

My brother in law has too much time on his hands.
As a joke, he went to Target and stood in the horrendously long checkout line to buy a pack of chewing gum.
Meanwhile, I was comfortably sleeping on the couch with a toothless chihuahua snoring gently beside me.

That's pathetic. He could have made more collecting cans for 12 hours.
All these black friday shoppers are idiots. I browsed through a few of the local ads and compared pricing to that of Amazon and eBay, only to find that the local "deals" were actually within a few dollars of online pricing. In some cases the online deals were still $5-$10 cheaper with free shipping.
I hate dealing with lines and **** anyways, so I'd end up grabbing someone by the neck if they tried to take something I already had in my hand.
Complete sheep mentality. Wait in line for black friday deals, post status updates on facebook, be the coolest person you know.
