Like i said earlier, I have the handle to my floor jack which i use to coerce things when needed, its not the best, but it works for the most part...
Its the typical hollow, 3ft long metal handle that u slip into the floor jacks...It just doesnt work in all situations...
I got a good air compressor, some air tools, torque wrench (still bring yours 94mx), a good collection of sockets, a few wrenches, typical hand tools, typical power tools, bits, ramps, cherry picker, eng stand, etc etc etc...I got alot of stuff, but def not everything...
If you guys are able to name the specific tools we'll need, it might be easier to make sure we got it all between the 5 of us...

Just talked to a place that has the diamond plate...
Guy was asking me what thickness & how much (they sell by square ft). And they can cut it to whatever size I want...
Questions...I'm thinking the thinner the better for weight, and in order to make the heatshield. He said the 2 thinnest sizes are .063, .80, and then
.125, then up from there...
So what thickness & sq ft should I get? I was thinking maybe getting some extra, and I can make a shield for the brake resov., and the air filter as well (kinda like Begi style)? This would NOT be on the same day, it'd be on my time and all. Lucky enough you guys are coming, even luckier you're all down to do the clutch!

Clutch question...when they list the ft lb tq rating, sounds like thats RW tq right? I'm gonna talk to someone to confirm before ordering, but thought someone might know so I can do some after hours shopping...

Looks like the only difference in the above 2 choices is the pressure plate. Heavy duty vs. Extreme. Both being sprung hug, street discs.
Personally, I have never had an issue with puck clutches, in most cases they're less expensive. You will get used to them with ease after a few miles... though I have found they can cause excess flywheel wear, cracks in some cases.
When a street style (non puck) disc starts to heat up, it almost seems to disintegrate into thin hair, whereas puck style clutches can take much more heat and transfer that stress/heat onto other transmission part.
BTW... I'm a dealer for ACT and could probably get you a deal on that ACT clutch kit. Don't see the "Heavy duty" one in stock, but I the "extreme" one is in stock. Part # ZM2-XTSS is showing as $450 + $25 shipping from the distributor to you.
Will definitely be bringing my toolbox to the meet, probably have a couple usable tools in there. Will be sure to pack a couple of jackstands and another jack in the trunk as well. Ah, and can't forget the cooler with the day's brews.

Jeeez, I hope everyone saw the my last post & read it the way I intended...I AM supplying beers & food, just to be clear! lol
Anyway, decided to call Clutchnet to see what up with the group buy and get some info..
They helped me out, but I said I'd post before ordering to make sure you guys dont see any issue with what I'm getting, and to make sure there's no hiccups for our build day.
They were telling me that the best option is
2xPP, with an organic disc (solid not puck), using 3HP springs & 3 reg springs. Clutch comes with SS backing, includes allignment tool & T.O bearing, and free shipping
Said this should hold close to 270 ftlb tq if not over. I doubt I'll pass 220ftlb, so sounds promising enough.
I gotta call back to confirm pricing, but from whats listed on the groupbuy thread, should be about $355 shipped to my door.
Thoughts?
On a side note, gonna order the wire.com stuff tomm (if not tonight), got the rear main seal on its way, and still gotta mock up the BOV for the welder this weekend.

Not sure about Miatas, but on a few Volvo applications that I've done... Clutchnet has done a fantastic job, quality product, and great customer service.

Clutch kit sounds good enough, when the clutch kit comes in make sure that the TO bearing isnt some cheap mostly plastic one and you will also need a new pilot bearing, preferable an all metal one.
+1 on the flywheel you will want yours resurfaced which will probably be impossible on a sunday (sorry I didnt think of that earlier). Maybe you can call Planet Miata or Tom @ Parts Group and get a used one cheap and get it resurfaced b4 the swap.
As for the heatshield, yes get the thinnest they have, I will bring my snips.

5am,6am,7am,8am whatever everyone is up for, no biggie to me. When you buy the rear main seal try and get the best you can find. I would resurface the flywheel no matter what, its worth the $40 to be safe.

As for the "best" rear main seal I can find, basically just dont get the cheapest one? Or are there special things I should be looking for? I might just have the local Mazda place order me one to be sure, just sucks that they take forever and a day to get things in...

So Shane and Joseph how about you guys meet me right off of 95 and Oakland Park at 7, then we will hook up with Eli in Miami at about 7:30 then head over to Tony's house. Should be there by 8.
Tony, I would get the seal from Mazda. Another thing you might wanna consider is replacing the CAS O-ring while the tranns is out. I would also order a SS clutch line. Both of those are 2 minute swaps with the tranny out.

Oh as for the flywheel most machine shops should be able to resurface it. Your gonna have to call around. I got mine done at this Mustang shop in Pompano.
Eli told me about this place, give them a call.

Lev I think I got a condo right by where you live, I got a place in Sailboat Point...its about a mile west of 95 right off Oakland park Blvd...
As for the carpooling thing, thats a good idea for you guys if the timing works for everyone...sure does for me fwiw..

Im actually east of 95 between Dixie and Federal.
The CAS O-ring is the Cam angle sensor. It should only be like $8 from Mazda.
