I game for the clutch install, if we get started bright and early it shouldnt be a problem. Make sure you order a new rear main seal while your at it. I will bring my nice new Husky tool kit I got for xmas. All we realy need it a good socket set and a breaker bar (I do not have). If you need jack stands and a jack let me know. Id also go buy a case of brake cleaner. If I think of anything else I will let you know.

Do you know of a place where you can get the Bov flange welded, cause id have to be stuck because of that.

Ok, let's make sure no one has an issue with starting early or doing the clutch, and if not we'll "get er done"...

I have 2 jack stands, so def bring another pair...and I have a good floorjack.
I don't have a breaker bar either, only thing I use when I get stuck is the handle from my floor jack, but its no good in tight situations...Anyone have a bar?

I have a couple cans of brake cleaner, I'm thinking I'll get the rest along with the other stuff from Advanced the day of the build...

Gonna get on the rear main seal (thanks for the tip).

A friend of mine told me of a good, cheap, fast place..but its unconfirmed so I'll try and verify this. If not I was thinking the local muffler shop...U do have a point tho about getting held up. I'm worried about placement tho, like i said it looks tight when I see my car...Maybe I'll look into finding a welder that will commit to a fast turnaround for us...If not I'll try and get details of why I think its tight in my engine bay...I just dont want to mess up the IC piping

Is the Bov a recirculating bov? If it isnt then you can put it anywhere on the cold side piping. Just below the rad hose is the best place.

No it isnt, its the Tial38mm...
Your saying coming right out of the IC basically? I was thinking that, only downside I thought of was road debris causing damage...

I'm working on the list now, already hunted down a true value, and am trying to confirm the welder. Mazda is out of stock on the rear main seal, so gonna order from Moss. Homedepot & advanced stuff is easy... So it should all be together by the build date...Gotta see about the clutch

Are the rest of you guys ok with doing the clutch (mx, 95?)
I asked for volunteers to finish the turbo install originally, so if anyone objects than we'll skip the clutch, I dont want to force it on anyone. But if you guys are down that would be huge, and I kinda want to have a lil time to shop around, so when you guys get a chance, HOLLA and let me knwo!

Just get it welded on the pipe that connects to the TB facing the drivers side and low enough so it dosent interfere with the upper rad hose.

Thats where most people have it, thing is I dont see enough room for it there..Like u said below the rad hose, but then there's the pulleys & fan assembly, and of course the block.

I already shaved some off the fan assembly to fit the IC pipes. I'm gonna try and mock it up and see if maybe it just looks tighter than it is...If its too tight I'll post the pic here...Gonna call the welder my friend knows to see how long he'd take, so I know how soon I gotta figure it out...

Edit--Just spoke with the welder, said should be in and out. Now just need to mock it up and get it to him. but at least I know it'll be same day turnaround time..

Update, I went to home depot..
Got the mineral spirits, and the reflective tape. I actually went a lil overboard cuz I didnt see anything that stood out. Got some all weather reflective duct tape (up to 200+ degrees), got some other non reflective tape that supposedly is rated up to 500degrees, and finally got some fiberglass backed reflective tape (not rated).

Gonna try to hit true value in the morning since they close at 4??

Haven't done a clutch on the Miata, but have done them on other cars in the past. After looking online/manuals, the clutch looks like a driveway doable task. I say we get it done!

Ok so now all we need is to see if 94mx is ok with it and ill start shopping! (no pressure--lol)

Brain whats up man?? Found anything yet? My offer still stands whether you make it or not!

To da crew...gonna try and get over to true value tomm morning b4 work if possible, and Ill order the rear main seal tomm AT work as well...

So those that have upgraded what are u guys running? Any thoughts on the act unit? I want something that will def hold the power, and not have to replace in a few months, and if posible with similiar engagement/feel as the stock unit..or as close to it as possible without being ''wimpy"

Clutch is the real deal breaker, not going to help now

j/k- I'm fine with doing the clutch too. We should probably start to consider keeping an eye on the weather at this point too. If it looks like it is going to rain we can pick up one of those cheap tarps to extend it past your garage.

There are some clutches that do not require a break in period, right?

Wohooooooooo, we're all in!!!! Thats great guys!!! I really cant thank you enough!!! You guys are literally giving me a turbo'd miata as a gift!! I've wanted an FI car for soooo long, and I finally pull the trigger on the miata, only to find out i'm having a kid and will prob have to give it up. Now you guys are coming thru and makign it happen...I dont think I can every really repay the favor, but i promise i'll try..

K, back to business....my real name is Tony.

As for the clutch, I'm gonna start looking. Clutchnet might fit the bill...I'm gonna check out some things and will let you guys know which way I'm heading before buying...

Didnt get to True Value today, was running way late this morning. But def no later than Saturday I'll have the diamond plate.
Should be able to order the rear main seal today, and the wirecare.com stuff I'll order tomm (gotta see what diameter/length I need)---both should be here in time with no problem. And between today and tomm, I'll call clutchnet, and check out some act's on line as well....
That leaves the welding, which over the weekend I'll mock up and bring to welder early next week. I'll post pics & details before I get it done just in case. I looked thru my stuff, and I have enough IC piping left over for 1 mistake, but hopefully wont need it

As for the weather/tarp, I agree--but we'll actually be in a 3car garage. 1spot is taken up by my workbench/tool area, 1 belongs to my currently dormant Miata, and the 3rd to my wife's car--which of course I'll move. So I think we'll be fine, if anyone has a tarp I guess bring it--otherwise I think we should be fine no?

We also gotta talk tools. Like I said I have alot of stuff, but its better to be safe than sorry. And its not like any of you guys live 5min away...
Lev already brought up that we need 2more jackstands(which i think he is bringing), and a breaker bar if possible. And as many socket/extensions as possible... Anyone able to fill these needs?

Sorry for using everyone's user names, just easy for right now since I can look back and see who wrote what...

**Sorry so long, trying to get as much info down as possible since today is gonna be nuts at work...talk to you guys soon!

I dont have a breaker bar either.

I can bring some jack stands, torque wrench, and thats about all I am good for.

Phil, that chin-up bar at your house was working as a pretty decent breaker bar.
