Default Goodby Sport Compact Car.... we will miss you :(

Yes, it's true.

Source Interlink kills Sport Compact Car, laying off 115 employees - Autoblog

This the mag. that got me into cars back in highschool...sometime in 98 or 99 (i know, im a youngin'). I still have my first issue somewhere.

Me too, sad to see it go. I can find comfort in the fact that the quality and page count had been in decline for some time. This mag was my middle ground between rice-tastic rags like Import Tuner and the sometimes bland Sportscar or Racer. Here's hoping nothing happens to Turbo mag.

well that saves me the trouble of canceling my subscription. it went from 300 pages to under 100 with very little content in a very short time. I'll keep my GRM though.

so sad. scc used to be THE magazine to read when you get tired of the ricery/------ry of super street and the old farty'ness of motor trend
truly a sad day

Wow, this is truly sad. The BEST magazine for DYIers whose focus was on more show than go.

My subscription ends in february, as does the magazine.

I had a turbo mag subscription for two years and loved it. I was considering resubscribing, but since the article said that Turbo could possibly go, I wont.

It appears Turbo is done for as well.

I think at the time, they also cut their ~75% ads down to less than half. More content driven like it was initially.

+1

IIRC, this is the magazine that really got the M62 and over the top intercooler piping for the Miata really out there.

I used to also enjoy the Ultimate Streetcar Shootout. That twin engined Hyundai was an awesome sleeper!

You will be missed, Car Geek Magazine.

maybe, but they also had regular tech articles and entire tech sections in every issue. granted, there were ALWAYS spelling and layout errors, but at least when the content is awesome, it's tolerable.

now, for my awesome tech articles, I just come here and read Dave "geek at large" and his LeMons build

+1, this is the mag that got me into cars as much as I am today. I was a hard core ricer before I started reading the mag, it opened my eyes to the world of real cars. Although it has gone down hill since I first started reading it, and I cancelled my subscription about 6 months ago, it is still sad to see it bite the dust.

Lame.

SCC was the only import magazine I could stomach.

At least GRM is still going strong. Thank God for that.

I'm like crying. That is/was the only magazine i'd ever want to read.

Meh, I got tired of the thin articles. I had a subscription for a few years, but got tired of the same old stuff.

GRM is the real DIY car mag!

I let my subscription go about 5 years ago. They went from being a half way decent magazine with decent tech articles and reviews to pretty much a shiny poo version of Turbo & Hi-Tech complete with misspellings.
