If that had happened at night, or just some one passing through that didn't know anyone, they would have never been caught. Can't see a plate number or any other details.

When you get right down to it, the CCTV did absolutely nothing. That being said, I think my wife is really wanting one so I guess I'm getting ready to spend $800 or whatever. Oh well...

No, you are right. At night no plate would have been caught and nothing would have happened other than to approach the neighbor and say that someone pulled out of their driveway and hit our car. Civilly, the video may be enough to convict here in Canada if you were to decide to sue, had a plate and a statement saying that van specifically left property X etc. Big headache.

At our old house we caught the neighbor drunk driving across the lawn from the driveway and smashing into the basketball net. They denied it until there was footage, after that things got settled and it all stopped. The footage was horrible but you see the car leave their property and go across the grass.

If it had been a van at night just strolling through my hood I would have then kept an eye out for a van or a van in my area with similar behavior. I live in a very low traffic area.

That also said my friends new Lincoln got smoked in a similar fashion. No cams, $4,000 damage and it drove him crazy that he had no idea what vehicle or possible who hit him and took off.

Camera system is well worth every cent and I will never own another house without one, regardless of what hood i live in.

Fixed for the Falcon.

Yo, Rick. I like your paranoid camera network. Not as cool as the time the dude with the huge dong came to your door, but still interesting.

I know you must have some archived footage that is entertaining. Movie night at Rick's house? I'm down for that.

Yeah, I was just giving Rick grief. He was off on some tangent a year ago about how awesome Canada was and how we Americans were a bunch of savages who ate our young and fought wars over tennis shoes. (I'm paraphrasing.)

In fairness, Baltimore, Maryland is indeed like that.

Its true. I was turned onto the CCTV system from a friend of mine who was going on about recent home invasions, lack of weapons we as Canadians have etc. Cameras may be a slight deterent, i dont try to keep them a secret by any means but they do exist out of some degree of paranoia and curiosity.

At my old house they were certainly needed, too many things went missing and bump in the night. Nothing worse waking up knowing someone jacked your **** but you dont know when, from where or how many even. Those little details gave me some comfort at least to know what was going on though it never changes the fact that something happened.

I do have some funny footage somewhere. 2 things really. 1 of someone slipping and falling on the driveway in the middle of the summer in dry conditions. It was funny and how it happened, who really knows. The 2nd real funny one was the tree branch falling after a windy day and stabbing a 3 inch hole into my bros. in laws hood. lol

Cameras are cool. People ring the door bell, i look and if they have a huge boner like that previous Jehovah, i dont answer the door.

lolz

**** happened to me in college parked next to the same truck for two semesters every freakin day. Pulled out and ran over my driver front fender. broke the **** of it. Called the school cops. They said nobody saw ****. I said I can tell you everything about the truck, gave them everybit of info, aftermarket mods, exact type and year of truck, everything down to the tire size and brand and make. Guys showed up in the same spot the next day, with a big mark of black on his purple truck, I had a big mark of purple on my black car.

They said sorry cant do **** because the same day he filed a hit and run in another parking lot. He even told the cops in the mornings I park here and then I move to the other parking lot.

I told the cop obviously he hit me and didnt care to say anything or didnt know then reported it after he moved. They said sorry cant do **** no witnesses.

I have finally saved enough for a full repaint, jams and everything, and collected all the parts (hatch [unrelated to acc]. fender, bumper, ss spoiler, harwood hood.

So i FINALLY get to get my baby fixed. She used to be perfect, without any noticable blemishes, I did a nice wetsand and full paint correction right after I bought her and she looks like **** now.

Come to find out the guy goes to church with a grl I used to run around with. She said hes been caught a few times doing the same ****. and luckily everyother time someone caught him and told him if he drove off theyd call the cops. I couldnt be so lucky.

Did you have to show this to your neighbor? And do you review your footage daily?
