Default i think i enjoy wasteing money

or atleast it seems that way. i have a REALLY bad habbit of going cheap, it doesnt work, then i go a little less cheap, still doesnt work, so i spend MORE than ii would have been to just do it right the first time.

i had the ebay mani for the 13g, i bought a t3/t4, so i was just going to weld a new flange on, and mod it for a external wastegate. well you can tell how that went. so i bought the JGS builders kit. and tried to do it with my 110v flux core welder and just a angle grinder. works better than the first time, but still sucking ***, so i just wasted 200 bucks. i think i will just buy the ETD mani like i should have done in the first place. its a good thing i live at home, and i got a ton of overtime last week, and tax refund time

i think i need a beer

Haha, I'm thinking of building a manifold similar to the JGS builders kit. I'll be sourcing the parts elsewhere though. Pics of your welding skillz

You know how to weld? Use smaller rods. Use more gap. Preheat the metals. Build up the welds. Their's technique for getting a good weld every time.

i have a flux mig, only so much you can do. but i have found out now that the licoln wire is WAY better than the harbor frieght wire.

but anyway, its not as bad as i thought. even missing 3 header to head bolts, there is no leak at the gasket, woot! i will try and make this one work. i need to pick up a die grinder tomorow to be able to grind down some weld that i cant reach with the angle grinder, and touch up a few weld leaks i have.

anyone have a better way of testing for leaks in the mani besides just painting it with high temp silver, taking it for a drive, and seeing if there is any black exhuast residue?

Pour mineral spirits in it. If there's a leak anywhere, it will pour out. Works for checking valves in a head too.
