Default Corky's CB/1 Featured on Autoblog

Strange how these things happen. Someone runs into someone, who talks to someone else, and next thing you know Autoblog is doing a feature on the CB/1.
Autoblog — We Obsessively Cover The Auto Industry

Corky already has plans started for the CB/2.

Got any info on the chassis development? Was that in-house BEGI? I didn't know Corky did anything other than Miatas

I don't really like how they talked about its dyno #'s and failed to respect the suspension or engineering put into the car.

I've seen the car at MSR-C before, this was before I knew much about cars.

I was trying to get some context for this kind of power...the following comparison made it a little clearer:

CB/1: 650 bhp, 2600 lbs (4 lbs/bhp)

McLaren F1: 627 bhp, 2513 lbs (4.008 lbs/bhp)

So....yeah.

The answer to both: YES.

Corky is an engineer. His (current) preference is the Miata. He will step up to most any engineering challenge you are willing to pose; provided you are willing to compensate him for the effort. (He does need to keep his Margarita supply stocked...)

How much?

In dollars?

Can get it when?

Who do I send the money to?

Figured I'd ask several questions at once since you are into 1 word answers <G>...

Exodus 20:17:

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house,"

Good so far...

"thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife,"

Still good.

"nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***,"

I'm thinking we're in the clear...

"nor any thing that is thy neighbour's."

Dammit.

I've looked it over on the web plenty of times but never bothered looking at the pricing since I haven't been in a position to buy one. Wonder if I could get it as a kit? Seriously, the main thing keeping me from a Cobra kit is the fact that it's a shitty chassis on a shitty suspension. I mean, great for its time, but it's long since passed its prime and become obsolete, and modern grippy tires can only compensate for so many years of obsolescence. A clean-sheet redesign that put the old body on something that rode and drove like a modern ultra-high-performance car should drive would be AWESOME.

In sequence:

1 - Not as much as one might think
2 - More than most are willing to spend
3 - As soon as you can convince Corky to build it
4 - First option, Mary (Corky's wife). Second option, me; but that won't necessarily gain you the CB/1

I answer multiple questions monosymbolically when possible, but not exclusively. Thanks for playing!

Corky said he could easily take 300 lbs off the next car.
