they could go get a real nice one slammed, and in perfect condition with leather seats.
Real nice, in perfect condition, slammed Miata. Oxymoron does not compute.

Does that mean I'd be able to get a 60's Camaro that would run and drive for the same price people are selling rotted out shells with titles on Craigslist for? The downside would be that "used parts" would no longer exist. An LSx swap would suddenly cost $5k for a basic LS1, and upwards of $10k for a LQ9, L92, or LS7.

Alright guys I'm gonna be selling my 1995 mazda miata not an m edition. She's a great, reliable, fun ride with a lot of good aftermarket accessories on her. Wrapped intake (?), aftermarket spectre air filter(lifetime warranty) Racing radiator 4 core (you will never overheat in Arizona weather), New 12 blade slim cooling fans with aluminum shroud. Stage 2 clutch (I seriously hate the "stage X clutch" moniker, it says nothing), short shifter, new rubber throughout New master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder both with lifetime warranty Aftermarket steering wheel(stock with good airbag comes with the car) Currently sitting on aftermarket wheels, will come with the original Mazda rims unless you put up an extra $200 which you'll have 8 rims 4 tires with warranty, the other with no warranty. HID bulbs with angel headlights. Only 3 months old. Roll Style bar, also comes with the stock strut tower bar. LED fog lights. Anti theft kill chip (?) (greatly reduced insurance cost which is already low) Aftermarket sound system that's really awesome for a small car like the miata, 6 speakers... two 6" infinity speakers, and two kicker 4" speakers per head rest, making a great audio experience top up or down. The speakers have been dynamated, and have I have 2 year warranties on everything from bestbuy. The soft top is probably the only thing in any kind of bad shape... it has been sown along the window as the zipper was broken, it is weather sealed so no water can get in... to have the top redone you're looking around 350$+ depending on materials you choose and if you want a glass window. The interior is clean, donut tire is in good shape, basically everything but the soft top and very minor paint fade between the windshield and top as well as the rear panel between the break lights is perfect due to Arizona weather averages 27/30 in town depending on driving and up to 40 mpgs on freeway Asking $6,000 obo without aftermarket wheels $6,200 obo with.
Then I also found this $10,000 02 with 83k on the ODO. It's expensive because it's the original ultra rare vivid yellow color, but it's got body damage, which means you're going to need to spray over that ultra rare color....
mazda Miata limited edition

I would say 4k in AZ. Unless someone really really dumb, that has a huge boner for a yellow miata comes along, that car isn't worth ****.

This would be a nice platform if it wasn't $7000

1995 Mazda miata

hello I'm helping my elderly friend sell his very clean and Very low mileage 95 Mazda MX-5 Miata. It only has 65xxx miles on it This car was his second/weekend car, and hardly accumulated any mileage in the last 3 years of his ownership, roughly 100mi per year. He just purchased a Jaguar XK8 for the additional comfort level and extra room over the Miata (he's 6'ft tall and in his 80's). Original White paint over black upholstery that is in Excellent condition!! Most recent services to the car included a new radiator, thermostat, hoses and coolant flush, just in time for Arizona summer! This powerful 1.8l DOHC 4cyl and 5-speed transmission are so much fun to drive around town I almost want to buy it for myself! Convertible top is in good overall shape and includes a vinyl tonneau cover. tires are also in good condition. Overall this car need nothing except to be driven and enjoyed!! Asking $7,000 OBO

If I was going to start all over, I'd start right here.

1999 Mazda Miata 5spd
1999 Mazda Miata 5spd - $4000
Excellent condition '99 Miata - 5spd - almost entirely stock and in perfect running condition.

I have an entire binder of maintenance records and part receipts from the life of the vehicle. The Miata has always had Amsoil and regular maintenance.

Interior and exterior are both 9/10, may need new soft top soon but they are relatively cheap.
Front lip and wheels are plasti-dipped black but it can be easily removed if you want the original silver back. Regular wear on driver-seat bolstering.

New rotors and brakes front and back.

Aftermarket parts include:
Racing Beat 4-2-1 Header
Flyin' Miata Cannon Rear Subframe Brace

But at $2000 OBO, he at least has an idea of how much he's ruined the car. Not like the Mitata driver up there, who wants $4k for a car that is missing basic safety equipment (rear bumper lights) with a "dirty title" and "clean wheels" that only have "a little curb rash."

Here are the highlights of a Canadian craigslist (kijiji) ad showing the Canadian premium:

I have a 2000 Mazda Miata MX5 for sale. The car is in excellent condition, only 70,000 kms, regularly maintained, never winter driven, stored in climate controlled building when not on the road (ABSOLUTELY NO RUST). Includes 5-speed manual transmission, leather seats, premium bose stereo AM/FM/Cassete/CD, power antena, power windows, power locks, alloy rims, low profile tires, ground effects that really set the car off. Sharp looking car and alot of fun in the sun. I bought the car in 2002 and only drove it on nice weekends. I have a little boy and we are expecting another one so I need to sell it and get something suited for a family of 4. Asking $17,500. If interested please e-mail or call anytime.

Has that guy absolutely lost his mind or is that a fairly normal price?

Cuz if that's a normal price then you've all lost your minds.

It would appear that way. The prices are just mangled this time of year. You have to purchase early, early spring or late fall (first snowfall) if you want anything resembling reasonable.

I've heard of prices in Canada being substantially higher, but I agree that's just ridiculous.

My car would be a $30,000 NB for sure. I'm going to Canada. I wonder what my buddies 91 NSX would go for up there?
