Buy a turbo 94-97. No swap. No install/tune. You have the money.

starting with a 1.6 is like buying a v6 mustang...maybe with a few thousand dollars it will run with a stock gt.

And this coming from the guy who doesn't have the ***** to make a decsision and turbo his ******* car already?

Honestly I doubt you'll ever do it. I think you use these threads to let everyone know about all the "mad money" you've got to spend. It's a lot of whining and bragging as far as I'm concerned. Your threads are like masturbation but with out the fun.

the driveline is the only weak link- the 1.6 makes plenty of power w/boost. Lots of guys are tracking turbo 1.6s and stomping LOTS of big $ cars. Just buy a greddy (or other base) kit and pay somebody to install it. Then build from that.

You do realize that by stating this you insult half the people on this board who can push 200+ to the wheels easy? I blew my 1.6 and I plan on putting yet another 1.6 in my car. Why? Cause I like the motor, and I can make enough power off of it. Oh, and please never compare my vehicle (1.6) to a v6 mustang.

There are days I hate my relatively stock 91 because some new problem has creeped up and causes me a world of grief (for example, last week the bolt that holds the AC compressor bracket to the side of the engine fell out and I shredded the AC belt. )
When I get a second car that I can DD instead of the Miata, I doubt I'll be troubled by these little issues as much.

at what hp and boost levels? If I could find a cheap torsen swap, I'd be more willing to run the 1.6.

I thought you had a complete NB sitting in the wings waiting to swap everything from it. You might consider swapping in the rear from that.

not a ******* torsen. I had my father pick it up at an auction, and it has the open rear. I got the car for $800 total though, so I ran the risk and bought it up. I can probably sell the motor and trans from it, keep the brakes, and at least break even.
