Default Evo X

Pretty disappointing. We got our first two in at work today. Unfortunately today was my late start day so I didn't get a chance to drive either of the two yet, but the co-workers that did said it was noticeably slower than the Evo 8 or 9. Interior is boring, exterior is boring, rear wing looks CHEAP, still has the nasty curves of the base Lancer, and they flipped the engine around so the exhaust is in back. Trans is notchy as **** (5spd, non MR). Apparently the suspension is softer as well.

To top it off, both needed to be fixed on delivery. I sure hope these are just early model bugs that will be fixed and that the MR will be more alive..

[/end rant]

thats funny. i read the motor trend comparison article and it noted pretty much the same points. compared the new EVO to the BMW M3 lineage... looks like they are moving in the same direction...

If it makes you feel better.. the STI is reportedly tamer this year also.

I was reading the overview book mitsu gave us and it does have some pretty cool stuff. Active yaw control for one, before only the C-diff was variable, but now they apparently all are. The coolest thing to me is that the PCM monitors timing chain deflection (they switched to a chain), and when the chain deflection goes past .006", it turns the MIL on.. Who cares I know, but I just found that one interesting. Looks like the MR should be better than the GSRs that we just got in.. Can't wait to find out.

the evo ix to evo x transition is like having a beautiful looking girl with all the packages and then a year later she gets fat lazy in bed and just wont satisfy you.

I agree that the body looks worse and the car has gotten softer overall, but I like the "flipped" engine. Having it in that configuration moves the hot exhaust and turbo away from the radiator and moves all that heavy turbo hardware further to the rear. Moot points, I know, but better on paper. Maybe someone will do a 4B11 swap into an earlier Evo.

Thats disappointing. With all the hype, it had a lot to live up to...and apparently it didn't.

At least the 4B11 is lighter (not ALOT but 40lbs IIRC), but I wonder how it will hold up once people start pushing their limits on power.

I work at a Mitsubishi dealership in southeastern Wisconsin. The two that we got are white and silver.
