I have 2 gigs of ram, 512mb of vram, and an AMD dual core 64 bit 4400+, works out to 2.3ghz.
video drivers are up to date, I've tried turning graphics all the way down, still freezes completely every ~20sec or so.

I'm not blaming the game for my system faults, the game looks awesome and runs incredibly smooth, but a lot of PC guys have had trouble with it

If you're running a newer Nvidia card with vista, their drivers ( and arguably hardware ) are garbage. That's most likely the problem with most game crashes even outside of fallout 3. Luckily I haven't had such problems with mine lately. Prior to the newest drivers and tweaking it was basically pissing into the wind trying to play games.

with a fresh reboot, my fallout runs perfect. After about ~5-6 days of uptime and constant gaming then it starts to crash every now an then. Overall, the game is fun. i feel its much like KOTOR which are some of the very few single player games i can play. Im sure you can finish the game in about 2 hours if you straight for the main quests, but right now im about 10 hours and i have not even touched the main quest.

Beat it last night after 52 hours of play.

Ending was anticlimactic, but the game was entertaining.

Beat it just now and the ending was a little disappointing. Guess I'll have to reload a recent save and put off the main quest a while since I've yet to discover anywhere near 50% of the map.

I bought it, installed it. Not really enjoying it. I prefer the more brainless, run and gun type games. This games requires a LOT of talking with people in it.

gotta keep going and shift your mindset to it being an RPG and more in depth shooting than Doom

I just get the urge to drop frags when i'm talking to settlers. LOL

Most action I had was when I went into some building in MegaTon and robbed some people, they attacked me. LOL

yeah I've played games like this (oblivion) and tried to just kill everyone. eventually everyone hates you, and you can't get ammo or health anywhere, and someone eventually kills you. not fun either.
