favor from San Antonio peeps? (quick look at a car for sale)
Hello folks,
Any San Antonio folks here who can take a quick look at a car for sale that I'm eyeing? It's near the airport.
It's an 09 Boxster S that languished for 9 mos, with 75k miles. I basically want to know if it looks clapped out (paint, rubber weatherstripping, top, interior), for the age. I had a number of 100~150k mile 10 year old cars that looked like they were 5 years old, in excellent condition, because they were well maintained and always garaged. i.e. paint shiny and not swirly, no bad paint jobs, panel colors match, interior not faded or scratched, rubber weatherstripping didn't look aged.
This is the car. Sales puke now offering it to me for $25k. If it's in decent shape that's a decent price. If it's in good shape I'll lowball it some, have a PPI done then fly over to buy it.

If it's the place I'm thinking I had them do a bunch of work on my exes Mini. I generally detest taking any vehicle to any dealer for work but had to in this case. Seemed like a decent enough place with even some cool older looking projects in the back. Even for labor prices they were fair and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I work all week but could probably swing buy on Saturday. Anything specific you want looked out for let me know.
Edit: Not the same place I was thinking but I've driven by this place many times before.

Thanks!
Just the paint, top, and interior condition, because the photos don't really show it well.
I know it has some minor scratches in 3 spots around the car, that maybe could be touched up, and a scratch on the steering wheel.
I'd like to know also if the rubber sealing around the windshield and doors look aged, and how bad the wheels are curbed.

Jason I saw the scratches you mentioned. The one on the hood was the worst but a session with a polisher should take care of it. Same thing with the ones on the right rear qurater panel. The top looked to be in really good condition. Seals all looked good. Nothing cracked or dry and were flexible to the touch. Wheels all looked good as well and the tires appeared to have a decent amount of life left in them. Interior looked good with some wear on the leather and quite a few scuff marks on the drivers side door sill. Otherwise everything looked clean and there were no glaringly obvious defects.
Really the only things I would note are that it took a couple seconds for it to start, the fuse panel cover by your left foot is missing, and when driving straight the steering wheel isnt centered it sits turned to the right so it needs probably needs alignment. Also the seats suck, but that's just a personal thing, waaaaay to narrow for my frame.

Hey no problem! It started up fine after that. I would do a PPI though. I was siurprised to see the sport chrono package on it. It shifted super smooth too. If I didnt know it had a PDK already you almost would have thought it was a cvt. Nice car overall. The ssles guy was eager to sell it.
