First ZR-1 SOLD

One issue about comparing new cars like this to the 60's and 70's is that many more special editions purchased now will never see the road as opposed to back in the day where they were treated as cars and driven. Thus, there will be many more super low mile 07's 40 years from now than there ever were '67's. It's likely that the first 10 or 100 will not see many miles. Compare that to the "old" ones.

1. The Viper ACR hasn't been to the "ring" yet and it will be faster than the ZR1 when it does.....not by much. But remember it doesn't have all the electronic gizmos that let anyone with a lot of money drive fast. You have to be a good driver to go fast in a Viper.
2.I've driven Vipers and Vettes. They both are a kick to drive. The Viper is a drivers car, no cup holders just go fast stuff. The Vettes are for old bald headed guys that are trying to relive the 60's. You can even order them with automatics and they have plenty of cup holders for your latte.
3. I had been a GM guy my entire life until I took a ride in a Viper in Las Vegas. Had GTOs, Vettes, Camaro SS, Camaro Z28, Olds 442s, etc. I now have a "Dodge"....it's weird.
4. I also have 2 Miatas and the best way to describe them is to say they are exactly like a Viper mini me.........a Viper with 5 times less HP (except for my turbo 99), and honestly the Miatas are more fun to driveand a LOT less maintenance.
5. I think b4 you can compare anything you have to have actually used the product or everything you say is worthless.

I have used a 95 Viper RT/10 before. Around road atlanta actually, (in 2001, as a track car rental.) it was fun to drive, but I will still call a viper a steaming dodge turn that will break more than its driven. And the SRT-10 ran a 7:59 around the ring. (Driven by a motor trend driver)
The M3 still ran a faster time around the ring than the 2005 SRT-10 Viper, the ACR has more power, but thats not going to push it
below a 7:30, without slicks, and the Stig behind the wheel.
Ahem the ford GT beat it by 17 seconds. Same HP, just better engineering,

Again, the Viper is like a 60's muscle car, big engine, somewhat low weight, and an in-your-face persona like a Pit Bull where a Vette is what old, baldheaded, pot bellied retired librarians drive. If you could get one without all that electronic crap on it you would have a pretty decent car.
I drove a new 08 Vette that my nephew in Albuequerque bought, with paddle shifters no less, and it was fun to drive if you took the time to push all the buttons, deactivate this and that so you could let the tail swing out a little in the twistys.
Ahem, the GT40 is no longer made, was limited production in the 1st. place and if you can find a decent one now it's about $175,000 and on up. With that dough you could get a new Viper, a new Vette and a new Miata................what a garage that would be.

I pretty much agree. Motor Trend has crappy drivers though as the majority of car mags do. A 95 Viper is a beast up until about 03 any Viper will beat the **** out of you if you drive it for any distance. It certainly is no DD by far. The new 08 Viper ACR has yet to go to the ring so let's wait and see. To me it is a street legal race car. Let's see how fast all those high tech fagmobiles go if you rid them of all those nanny-tech gizmos.

Hope you don't think the ACR is going to be cheap.... Theres a hell of a dealer markup on any viper that graces a tampa showroom around here. Last one I saw had a window sticker for 109K Dollars.
The one Competition coupe I saw for sale, had a 150K dollar window stick, and had a sold sticker on it. (The one with PVO on the side of it, and all kinds of other stickers.)
I have seen about 3 Ford GT's just here in Tampa though, and everytime I see one I follow in around and contemplate grand theft auto. They are just so damn sexy.
