It's a gearless, brushless electric motor mounted to the spokes of a bike wheel. Similar to this:

That's the impressive part. If you watch the dyno, that thing is making 50-70 ft/lbs steady-state, and peaking at around 120 ft/lbs.

3 ft/lbs per lb is a major letdown? That's probably close to the highest power/weight ratio of any vehicle ever created by man.

i just got done reading the thread on the video filmer's OWN bike build. interesting but kinda ended without an ending.

apparently RC motors are the way to go.
