I looked at the website... can I assume it's a lot of "illegal" street-racing videos. I can understand why they limit people uploading stuff, but why can't I just watch?

You couldn't be further from the truth. They have torrents of just about any racing class imaginable, past and present. F1 to WRC, ALMS to NASCAR and anything in between. Full races, highlights, everything

Yeah, I doubt there's any illegal street racing on this site. I'm looking for some old F1 footage. I hate it when announcers reference an awesome race like Mexico City 1990 or whatever, and I've never seen it. I once found a site that had race footage for a bunch of different classes all the way back to the '70s. All available as rapidshare direct downloads. I've since lost the link and can't find the site anymore. I'm hoping R-U is it.
Oscar, I heard somewhere you could actually buy an invite. I'd be willing to pay a few Euro if this is true.
