Can anyone recommend books on tuning theory?

I've read the megamanual and ms extra manual but I feel like I'm lacking some understanding of the big picture when it comes to tuning. I'd like something that not only explains the how but also the why.
Is something like this any good?

Too simplistic? I'd like something like Maximum Boost that maybe gets a bit more technical. Please direct me.

I too am trying to learn more about tuning and will likely put a MS in the 94 when I pick it up this spring.

that is a great link and I will have lots of time to review it today. I'm in Cozumel on vacation this week and it is raining with rough seas and the harbor is closed, so no diving. Oh well, it was -17 when I left home on Saturday and it is still 75 here today.
