Miata and Golf Ball sized hail = shitload of expletives
Did anyone else's car get owned by the hail in Austin?
I'm in 78726 and the miata got raped. It already had a dent or two, but now it's got well over 50. Run's great! But looks like ***.
Pics tomorrow.

Dimpled ***** fly farther than non-dimpled ***** due to the combination of two effects:
Firstly, the dimples delay separation of the boundary layer from the ball. Early separation, as seen on a smooth sphere, causes significant wake turbulence, the principal cause of drag. The separation delay caused by the dimples therefore reduces this wake turbulence, and hence the drag.
Secondly, backspin generates lift by deforming the airflow around the ball, in a similar manner to an airplane wing. This is called the Magnus effect. Backspin is imparted in almost every shot due to the golf club's loft (i.e., angle between the clubface and a vertical plane). A backspinning ball experiences an upward lift force which makes it fly higher and longer than a ball without spin.[1] Sidespin occurs when the clubface is not aligned perpendicularly to the direction of swing, leading to a lift force that makes the ball curve to one side or the other. Unfortunately the dimples magnify this effect as well as the more desirable upward lift derived from pure backspin. (Some dimple designs are claimed to reduce sidespin effects.)
In order to keep the aerodynamics optimal, the ball needs to be clean. Golfers can wash their ***** manually, but there are also mechanical ball washers available.

OP, sorry to hear, I know how bad that is. Luckily we didn't see any hail in BCS yesterday. The rain got really nasty, I'm sure I was getting some unintended water injection through my temporary "behind the bumper" cold air intake.
If this happened to my car I'd probably just lose it. Or end up flat blacking it and forgetting about looks.

The thing that made me the maddest was that it was a freak hail storm, and they were redoing the parking lot at our apartment complex so we weren't parked in our covered spots. I wrote a nice letter to management, and got a not so nice letter back from their insurance company's lawyers.

No insurance. Just liability. Cracked the windshield too...
Flat black sounds fun. I couldn't get any pictures today cause it was dark and rainy just about all day. I'm hating this weather. Looks like this weekend should be better though.

Snowed here on Friday... it was all melted on Saturday. We usually have a few storms similar to this, but this was a little more than normal. They are forecasting snow on Wednesday too. We have gotten snow like this as late as May before.
Here are some pictures my wife snapped on her cell phone from our outing on Saturday morning. Most of Friday was a white out so the pictures didn't turn out great.
