But seriously, bathtime can't hurt.

Well it appears at the moment that our friend Diesel may have been right.

I let them together again last night, and after about 5-10 minutes of tense moments, everything went back to normal. Mau even spent a good 20 minutes grooming the tabby last night, she normally doesn't do that. Maybe an apology?

Took a chance and left them together last night so we could get some sleep, weren't awakened by screaming cats, so that's good. (Or maybe we were just that passed out.)

Everything seems normal so far today. I cancelled the vet appointment since they had my in Saturday's last slot, which is normally reserved for emergencies and figured i'd just let them go home on time.

Will continue to monitor the situation but it looks like we're in the clear.

We're moving into a bigger place this summer so 1) we'll see if she freaks out again and 2) if she does, it'll be easier to keep them separated if need be.

Glad it's okay now.

I'd never have a cat like that. What happens if it decides to freak out on you while you're sleeping? Or on the other cat if you're not home?

They're locked out of the bedroom when we're sleeping.

I'm not saying we're totally OK with her at this point, for the reasons you just said, but we need to give her a chance i think.

It's awesome to hear they're getting along again. Are they still ok or have there been any "relapses"?

Situation still normal. They never really spent a ton of time together in the first place, and still don't. As in... you see all those pictures of two cats cuddling together. That has never once happened with these cats. Ever.

I think the Mau tired herself out being crazy those few days, she's been sleeping all damn day.

Had to bring this one back from the dead. The cats spent about an hour romping through the grass this evening, sticking close together and making futile attempts at grabbing birds.

They came inside, and Diesel just tried to ******* MURDER Cloud. Chased him all up and down the stairs, fur and claws flying, lots of screaming. I found them cornered in the basement growling at each other, Cloud looking defenseless but then he fought back. Chased Diesel up the stairs, and now Big D is hiding from Little C.

Have to say, it's hilarious watching Cloud pace around all puffed up and acting tough. He can't really bend his knees so he's walking like he has a potato chip between his *** cheeks and doesn't want to break it.

Cats are weird.

I'll try to catch it on video. They have a nasty habit of dropping whatever they are doing and sitting still as soon as I get the camera out.

I wish my cat was a source of entertainment like you guys.

Mine just begs, eats, and then vomits on my things.

I have two male cats who are brothers that are on excellent terms most of the time but every 6 months they try to kill each other. Sometimes we have to separate them for a day, sometimes two. Eventually they act like nothing happened. Fawking cats.

And they vomit on my stuff pretty regularly too.

Round 2.

Peach was underfoot while i was making dinner last night, i stepped on his tail. He squawked, Lilah went apeshit and tried to kill him. Separated them for about a half hour (Lilah went after me in the process), Peach refused to come out of the bedroom. When he finally did, all was well until i went to pet Peach, Lilah hissed, poofed, and went into full-on kill mode again.

Got to spend the night with a confused and sad Peach getting in our faces while we were trying to sleep, and a Mau that ignored the treats we left in the living room and instead chose to yowl and scream outside the door all night.

1 hour of sleep to start the week for the ******* lose.

If this is going to be a multiple-times-a-year thing, she's gone.

Wow, sucks man. I have to say, for all the freak-outs mine have had, they've never taken the stalking to the extreme Lilah has. Did you ever wind up taking her to the vet?

No, because she went to normal about 24 hours before the appointment last time.

My wife has suggested that maybe there are neighborhood cats coming around at night that might be sparking Diesel's temper tantrums. I saw an episode of My Cat From Hell in which that was what was causing the house cats to freak out. Supposedly my wife has seen a stray wandering around outside the house at night, and if it's spraying the bushes and such, I can see the cats getting crazy.

Maybe you have a similar situation? A stray invader can be a hell of a catalyst for behavioral changes.

Heh. Cat-alyst.

I dunno... we're 2nd story, they don't go outside, and while we do have strays in the area, they stay away from the doors, and they've been there since day 1.

We do have raccoons on the balcony from time to time as well, but that's also been for years.

Things seemed fine-ish last night, no fights all night, we got to sleep with the door closed and no cats.

Lilah freaked the **** out again this morning and went after my wife, who has now locked herself in the bathroom to stay away from her.

On the plus side, Peach seems to have grown some ***** and smacked the **** out of her and hissed during the freakout.

Doesn't matter. If she's going after people, i'm ******* done with her. Calling the shelter today. She's gone.

If any of my cats started going after people, I'd do the same.

Exact quote:

Well I was about to message ya saying the cats were okay and playing. Then lilah flipped a switch and attacked. Not as badly. And peach rolled to his side hissed back and swatted back. She ran out when I went running in. And she hissed at me when I closed the bedroom door. Then as I came back to the bathroom, she came running after me. So I've now shut myself in the bathroom. And she's meowing around the apartment every so often.
Yup. Nope.
