BEGI to Portland OR - Start the epic journey tomorrow!
My 94 was a test bed for BEGI on the S4 system. They've had it for a few months and it's finally done! I'm flying from Portland OR to San Antonio Tomorrow leaving at 5AM. Hitting the road that afternoon.
Car put down 217hp in 106 degree weather at 10psi. They tuned for 12 and have bumped the EBC to 11psi since the dyno, figure about 239 now. AFRs were absolutely flat with MSPNP! System was unusual with GT2860RS with internal WG - not the usual external with the S4. Even with porting still had some mild boost creep. At 11psi it was climbing to 12.
I'm making the 2200 mile drive in about 3 1/2 days. 2 routes to take. Head west through phoenix and over to LA then north. Other is head more north through Salt Lake, Boice and home. With the California fires and traffic I figured the more wide open spaces would be quicker. Of course if the car breaks down with the new system I'm in the middle of nowhere!
Any opinions on what way to go? What to see? Great spots for meals on the way? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Lucky? I'm driving 2200 miles on a newly installed system on friggin studless snow tires - since I sent it down in the middle of winter- and I'm not sure San Antonio to Salt Lake city is exactly a dream drive! Looks like the first 1500 miles are a whole lot of hot road and brown landscape.
God I've looked forward to this for a long time. Guys all look at me with envy when I tell them about it. Women all shake their heads and wonder why that extra chromosome makes men nuts. My wife can't comprehend the appeal of the road trip.

I'm home. 2200+ miles in 3 days. Car turned 100,000 miles during the trip. Congratulations BEGI! Not a drop of oil or water lost. Not a hiccup the whole way. Set the cruise at 80 and just went. Car drove great. At least as good as it can drive on studless snow tires.
100+ degrees the whole way so the AC was on the whole time. Drove quite a few miles at night so the barn doors were up a lot and still got 26 mpg, pretty much what I got before FI. Really amazed how much the car drives like stock until you put your foot in it. If you couldn't hear the open intake whoosh you wouldn't know it was FI! Hit 3500 rpm with the pedal down and that car really moves. EBC made a big change in spool on the 2860. Full boost at 3400-3500rpm vs 4000 on spring alone.
Thank you everyone at BEGI. Steph for the communication and putting up with me, Corky for all his input and advice and Tim for the great job tuning. I'll start another thread about the build and what the car's like in the Prefabbed kit section.
When there's a solution for the AC idle droop in Megasquirt it will be pretty much perfect!
If you haven't driven a long way across the US before I highly recommend it. I was making time, not able to stop except to sleep-eat-gas up, but still it was a beatiful drive. Went from San Antonio, left BEGI at 5:30 PM. Spent the night in El Paso, drove North through Albuqurque - had a beer with a buddy there- up through Santa Fe and overnighted in Colorado Springs. Drove through Denver up toward Cheyenne Wyoming - picked up some monster fireworks there - and then west through Ogden UT and spent the night in Boise ID. Quick drive from Boise home on sunday.
Got on it a little in Boise - big mistake. Big crackdown going on on street racing there. Got a ticket for "Excessive Acceleration". Not speeding, just speeding up too quickly. Didn't even break the tires loose. Totally bogus. Cop saw the turbo gauges and the roll bar and assumed I was there to race somebody "so who ya here to race son" kind of attitude. Didn't matter that I'm 43, had my luggage and 3 days of food wrappers in the passenger seat and had just checked in to my hotel at 11:30 that night.

Sounds like one helluva trip man, glad you made it!
Speaking of cross-country drives, the wife and I drove from Sierra Vista, AZ to Augusta, GA in summer '06 and in a month we're driving from here to Monterey, CA. I'm thinking I'll like the destination, but the drive out not so much, I'll have a whimpering Dachshund and a toddler to tend to the whole way.

It's amazing how much beautiful country there is from SA TX to Portland OR. There was plenty of desert but have to say I was suprised at how nice most of it was. I expected more desert scrub land.
Kotomile, I don't envy you making that drive with the dog and kid. I only had to take care of myself and that's pretty easy. A case of cold pop and the occasional truck stop meal kept me going. Did find out you have to crush the pop cans before throwing them in the passenger foot well. Otherwise they rattle too much!

well I was excited to finally have competition at the track, but I don't think studless snow tires will pass tech cueball. I just fixed a major fuel pressure issue and am now running a decent 10psi on a bunch of bandaids. when are you taking all that AC, CS, PW **** out and racing it?

No wonder he got only 26mpg though, yeah he's going for a faster trip, but most cars are geared for maximum mileage at 55-60mph.
btw I got 10.5mpg at a track day, which included about 25 miles of easyish freeway miles to get there. when the frack are you going to test your track mileage cueball?!?
