Anybody know anything about uTorrent?
I'm downloading 3 torrents right now and the speeds are really erratic. One second all three are at 3-400kb/s then they'll all drop to nothing and have a combined rate of 9kb/s, then they'll go back up. Right now one is at 1MB/s and the other two are at 20kb/s.
For all I know, this is normal for stuff off piratebay, I'm used to private trackers. How does the ratio of seeders to leechers play a role in how fast I can download? Would that cause the crazy changes in speed? I was going to blame comcast, but I don't know what to do about it. A 95gb file will take forever to download at 2kb/s

This is normally....Seeds update all the time are different for every file. Therefore, you're files will not download at the same rate of speed.
Pirate Bay is usually sketchy sometimes anyway...Demonoid.me FTW

I use the Pirate's stuff and they don't bounce around that bad. Takes a little while for stuff to dial up in speed. If I check in on it and the speed has dropped for more than a min or two I just restart on another option. I'm new to the torrent stuff and usually just download a thing or two at a time and go do other stuff. I don't watch it like a hawk. Might try the Demonoid sight, thanks for the idea.

I noticed the wireless issue with my old router, but I bought a new linksys a few months ago and it doesn't seem to mind at all.
I found one Dexter torrent on Demonoid that is 108gb, so I gave that one a try and it's been steamrolling at 1-1.3mb/s ever since. Still says it's going to take 3-4 days, but that's fine with me.
What is a peer block, and what kind of bad IPs does it protect me from?

Peer block is an application that blocks all incoming IP connection from certain IP's that are known to be used by the RIAA/MPAA and other bad companies. While it is not a perfect solution it is better then just downloading from a public tracker with nothing. Seedboxes and private trackers are where it is really at.

I try to use private trackers when I can. Is demonoid considered a private tracker? I got an account there a long time ago and don't remember if I needed an invite or if I just signed up.
