No doubt!

I have learned to always add 25% to the cost of what ever modification to cover the misc. BS.

I think I am going to venture into the additional 30% range with my SC install. It's too easy to go ahead and change things "while your there".

I got the car with a lot of goodies already either installed or included, some with a very large price tag, like the Cusco LSD and the FMII kit, and I've added plenty to it. I'm still buying stuff, and right now I say that after I get a roll bar, frame rails, and an extraction hood, I'll be done, but I know that after all that's done and it's a good daily driver, I'll return to my search for an engine to build up for a larger turbo, etc.
It may be expensive at times, but modifying this car has been 10x easier than when I turbo'd my Saturn.

3k for 60k mile '94.
2-2.5k for turbo + cooling + ems + etc.
1.5k for drivetrain : LSD, gears, clutch, flywheel.
500$ for R's with wheels.
1k for street wheels/tires.
1.5k for suspension.
0.6k Hardtop.

Future:

0.5-1k 6spd trans

Waiting for spring: Not priceless.

Wouldn't change a thing. Should be beating up on elise's with no issue. Can't beat that for under 10k

i just bought my 03 with 20k miles and i just started to mod it, it's already burned a very deep hole in my pocket but this is the kind of car that you can't help but spend money on it.. allready 9 month's i had the car and this is what i've done to it
20800-car(mostly interest)
600-turbo
300-aem wideband
280-greddy profec two boost controller
150- ebay mani
220-front mount
350-act clutch
100- 550 injectors
350- FIC
sience i don't want to mess up my engine i payed 1500 to install and have custom downpipe, exhaust, and everything ealse done to the car, so on top of the price of the car and everything i done to it, you can see how addictive it is

I'll make everyone feel better: Can you buy a car today that equals the performance and feel of your car for the same price?

I am not at liberty to answer that question, due to the fact that my significant other is aware of this site. She all ready calls my miata, bitch 1 and bitch 2. She feels I spend more time and money on them, then I do on her. The sad fact is, She is right

I think this is a good thread to introduce myself. Many of you know me from the other board. I bought my '01 as a demo in '02 because it was a good price and being so new, I wouldn't have to spend money on it. Unfortunately I discovered the power that can be made and have easily spent 10k on that car in mods.

I just purchased Larry's MOAB'ed '94 and want to take a more DIY on upgrades for that car and figured I would learn a lot more on this board.

Once I get the car (it may spend the winter at Larry's in MI) I plan to do a leakdown test and install a wideband I have sitting on the shelf. Assuming all is well, I plan to install a used Hydra I have on my '01 (my lesson in a stand alone) and drive the snot out of the 94 for a year. Once the '01 is solid, then I can work on the '94. If there are issues, that car is my priority and I willl hold off on the hydra install on the '01.

The '94 is currently using an AFPR for fueling and I suspect I am leaning towards a MEGAsquirt but have a lot to learn first. My goal on the '94 is to make a lot more power for a lot less money. Hopefully this forum will help me do that.

x3. I actually spent a lot on the fleshy GF for christmas because I feel guilty. Every purchase for the car could be a step closer to a wedding ring according to her....I'll keep spending on the car.

if i have to spend money on the GF to get poon from her she has to readjust her priorities. Luckily that is not the case.
