How (and why) to Ramble on your goat sideways
It pisses me off when people in physical stores complain how the internet is ruining their business and then when you stop to buy a simple exhaust gasket listed on their web site as 'in stock' and they say "well, we can have it here tomorrow or Tuesday" because their own web site lied.
Simple $5 gasket led to a 43 mile round trip + 2 other stores before finally finding one.
So a simple 1/2 hr job turns into a major event. Also a contributing reason garages turn into pseudo hardware stores in which you can never find anything anyways....
Oh well, happy labor day.

Yeah, but do you guys do just a few larger transactions, or are you like me, making many small transactions? I don't want to get 5+ checks a month for anywhere from $25-$100, then have to go to the bank and physically deposit it. But I guess that is the cost of not having your account linked.
Paper checks? LMAO! You need to hand carry those to the bank, right?
I can't remember the last time I visited my bank, or wrote a paper check for that matter. I pay my bills online. Buy things online with debit card or Paypal via a bank account with limited funds in it.
Yes, Paypal has access to the account. So what? They only take what I authorize them to take. If I forget that I made the authorization that's my fault, not theirs. You think I'm going to give up all the convenience just because I'm paranoid that Paypal might steal money from me? **** no! I'll deal with theft when it happens. In the mean time I have more important things to consume my time and attention.
My grandmother used to worry that the TV remote control had some nefarious plan besides changing the channels.
p.s. There's altogether too much bitching in this thread lately. You guys need to take some Midol or something.

Before it will work well though, we need the Internet analog of photo ID. And really, that's where Paypal comes in. I proved my identity and shipping address to them once. Now I don't need to show ID (or credit card numbers, etc) to everyone else if they use and trust Paypal... and are willing to pay the fee.
If we had a secure way of identifying ourself on the Internet, then Internet checks would work and Paypal would lose the power they currently have.
Something you can email that works kinda like a paper check would be cool. Amazon 'gift cards' are like that now, except you can redeem them only at Amazon. A bank 'gift card' is only a tiny step away. Of course the bank will probably want to charge a fee...

Maybe the difference between me and some of you guys is that I don't see myself as an enemy of the state (or the state as my enemy.) Sure, I avoid paying sales tax on private transactions, but that doesn't mean I hate the state for trying to collect. How would you do it differently if you were king?
Living in fear of your own government must suck.

The song in the Prius commercial is the most pretentious, hipstershit I have ever heard. I get angry every time the commercial comes on. If I had a Prius in my sights, an ad like this would make me decide against it. That would never happen though, because the Prius is a **** car.
finally moved into our new house... it claimed to have passed the house inspection, so we moved in; plugged up my computer, just to get shocked in my ear from the computer case while plugging in the USB.
****.
Only one outlet in this ENTIRE house is properly grounded, and its in the kitchen.
Only one thing to do now-- run the heavy duty extension cord to the PC, modem, and everything else digitally electronic, steel cased and/or 3 prong plugged until the electrician comes to fix it.
