How (and why) to Ramble on your goat sideways
Checking out the Corolla forums. It's AMAZING what these guys spend on these stupid cars*.
*I know the Corolla is a quality automobile, and that many others would look at our forum and make the same comment. But SERIOUSLY.

I have a bajillion devices connected to this and I haven't power cycled it in over 6 months. Oh, and I get a solid wifi signal out past my neighbor's mailbox. It's probably frying our brains.

I'll have to check the model number, but my current unit is a Ubee supplied by the cable company. Re-reading EO2K's post, I guess I* just need to get on the phone with the cable company.
At least this process has been somewhat educational.
*And by "I," I mean "my wife" because there is no way I am going to stay home from the office at year-end to futz with them on the phone.
Don't get me started on the NB; From crank walk, to end links, to non-filled head castings, to coil packs..... they certainly went down hill
The wireless drops were getting worse so I bought the Asus RT-N66U only to discover it does not have an input for the cable. Apparently, I don't know the difference between a wireless router, a wireless modem, and/or some combination thereof.

Your Ubee box is what's called a gateway. Essentially, it's a consumer level device that combines a modem and a router into one unit. Generally, the router sides of these units are not very good (often the modem isn't either, but there's usually not much you can do about that, since providers often lock down the connection to only their own devices).
BUT.
You can almost always turn OFF the wireless router half of your gateway and use your new wifi router instead. There's two basic approaches:
1. Turn off the wifi broadcast from your gateway, let it continue to handle DHCP routing, and use your new wifi router as a wireless access point.
2. Turn off the wifi broadcast AND routing from your gateway, let it only pass the raw connection to the wifi router which will handle routing and the wireless broadcast.
Option #1 is easier and takes care of the issue most of the time. Options #2 is slightly more complicated but is a technically superior setup.
I would recommend googling instructions for doing this -- include your gateway model, and phrases like "with a wap" or "with a wireless router."
The short version is that, using a web browser, you'll log in to your gateway (using the IP address for its admin page), then look for an option to turn off the wifi broadcast. Then run a patch cable from your pc to the wifi router, go to the admin page using the units IP address, and look for the option to run as a WAP instead of as a router.
Then hook up the wifi router to the gateway, and you're good to go.
Shipped something via UPS yesterday afternoon. Realized I entered some of the information incorrectly, so I canceled the original shipment and created a new shipment.
Between 4 PM and 11 PM, UPS sent me TWENTY ONE email notifications alerting me to the fact that my shipment had been canceled. The notifications rolled in roughly every 20 minutes for 7 hours, each one identical to the last.
Yes, UPS, I know that shipment was canceled. I'M THE ONE WHO CANCELED IT.

reminds me about a project we are on.
workflow is supposed to send an email a day to a person for up to ten days there was no action taken.
system is sending out about 50 emails each day.
issue was bugged.
developer argues it doesn't break the requirements.

******* STOP IT! I can't go anywhere on the internet without seeing this Phil Robertson/Duck Dynasty ****. People get worked up and focus on the wrong ****. There are FAR more important things people could get behind than some reality TV actor being pulled for going against network policy. Priorities... backwards. It's driving me crazy.

I made the mistake of trying to argue with one of these Phil supporters as to why there is nothing to argue about. They seem to think his 1st amendment rights were violated... except, they weren't. If people could trouble themselves to actually ******* read and research instead of just sharing posts on facebook, the country might improve a little.
