For boots that get worn every day, mink oil probably isn't a great choice.
You will notice more scuffs and tears as the leather softens, and it will get worse the longer you use it.
It does a fair job of waterproofing though, and if you see any signs of the leather cracking, slather some on.

50 vehicles flee from interrupted street race: Naperville police - Naperville Sun

Anstimated 50 drivers put their pedals to the metal over the weekend to get away from two Naperville police officers, who said they interrupted a two-man high-speed race on the streets of the city's far northwest side.

"Approximately 50 vehicles scattered in various directions upon police arrival" at the scene of the alleged race, Cmdr. Jason Arres said Thursday, quoting from one of the officer's reports. The two men participating in the race were arrested.

"One of our officers said both vehicles were doing 71 (mph) in a 30 (mph) zone," Arres said. A written police bulletin indicated Graham was taken into custody near the intersection, and Kacher a short distance to the north, near Diehl and Frontenac roads.

Both men were charged with street racing and driving more than 35 mph over the posted speed limit. Arres said Graham also was charged with driving in the wrong lane of traffic and having a defective muffler or no muffler on his vehicle.



Because unless you have quality taps it's easy to crack them especially if you're working in a shitty location instead of a desk bench.

I use the bick4 conditioner and cleaner recommended there. The only thing it won't remove is oil stains. It makes them look brand new after use (except the oil stains)

Maybe that particular picture, but i have seen multiple versions of the meme with various tap kits, some of very good quality. So i think Its safe to say the meme speaks to the fact that the tap kit is out of the toolbox and being used, and not the quality of taps.

Well also experience is important too. I've probably done about 2k taps so i'm fine but in the beginning i know i broke my fair share until i learned the ways

I understood. It more as fixing a fuckup. If you are an internet mechanic you don't really do any fab, and taps and dies are there to fix fuckups. I'm always stressed when I'm tapping a hole I drilled out, because I know I can't drill it out anymore.

This is perfect for today. A few weeks ago my friends father in law had a misfire in his f150. (311k very porly maintained brakes go almost to the floor and suspension makes all sorts of noises) Said he took it to a shop and had new plugs put in but they didn't replace #8. Of course that's the one that's misfiring. I figured they couldn't get it out cause there was a bunch of dirt in the spark plug hole and the socket wouldn't fit on the plug. So I clean it out get a socket on it and it doesn't want to move. Break out the big ratchet and.....snap. Fuuuuuuuuuu....... Snapped the hex off the plug but left the threads and porcelain in the head. Can't do anything since it's late and everything is closed so put it back together and tried to drive it back to his house. As soon as I pulled out on highway it shot the porcelain out. Don't want to drive it like that so just left it at work till I can get a timesert kit. Finally got time to work on it today. Yanked the intake manifold out so I can get to it. Then realized the timesert kit isn't designed to be used when there's some of the plug left. Manged to rig up some drill bits to fit in a socket and extension so I could use my air ratchet to reach down the spark plug hole and drill it out. Finally got it all drilled and tapped 6 hrs later. Used a shop vac to suck most of the debris out the cylinder but there's still a big chunk of the old plug I've got to fish out with a magnet. The best part is that the egr tube to exhaust manifold connection was so rusty the tube fell off as soon as touched it. Now I have to replace the exhaust manifold also and on a ford usually half the exhaust studs snap off and have to be drilled out. /rant

Time to go find some whiskey and forget all about this heap.

Friends don't let friends drive Fords. Broken plugs are a common problem with some of those Ford truck engines, from what I've heard. You are lucky you don't need a whole head.

The later 5.4 3 valves always break off. If it had been one of those I would have had it fixed in a hour or two. This is a 97 4.6 2 valve that's probably only had its plugs changed once in its life if not at all.

This weekend, I has dinner at the house of a lesbian couple with whom I'm good friends. They're in the process of building an addition onto the side of the house, and I found the construction technique rather interesting. It was all tongue & groove framing, without a stud in sight.
