Vans and DC don't make running shoes do they? I've worn nothing but skate shoes since I was a teenager. Like 10+ years now. I need to stop that, since I don't skate anymore ever.

Big deal. I've paid $250-$300 for golf shoes. I don't even play that often anymore :(

I just paid $180 for a pair of Red wing boots but they are the most comfortable boots I ever put on and the other pair I had lasted 8 years. I can see the value in them.

My cousin paid $150 for some jeans that already had holes in them. I wanted to smack him.

If it's worthwhile, yes. If it's some trendy bullshit, hell no.

I'm guilty of it myself in the past but I try to be frugal these days.

Why, it's exactly what Francisco Scaramanga would build, if he were a complete jackass.

Big fan of the Timberland Titan myself. $120 a pair, typically last me about three years. I recently bought my third pair, so that's the sort of loyalty I feel towards this boot.

Never tried Red Wings.

I bought a 30 dollar pair of shoes from Target 2 years ago. And my dress shoes cost 60 dollars.

I've used $20 kmart boots for the past 4-5 years and they've held up great against paving which has a tendency to melt boots.

I've been wearing $30 Nike skate shoes for the last 4 years. I'm ordering the Skechers Resistance Runner. I haven't read any bad reviews on them yet.

Timberlands are good boots too. I could never get a pair that felt right though.

I was recommended the Red Wings by a fellow construction worker in 2002. I tried a pair on and they felt great so I bought them. I'm glad I did, I just replaced them last week! Being a heavy equipment operator, I sometimes have to use various shapes and sizes of foot controls. They hold up well to the abuse.

The bad thing is the first pair cost me $129 in 2002. The same pair in 2010 cost $189...greedy bastards. If I wasn't in a pinch, I could have shopped around and got them a little cheaper but I needed them in a hurry.

+1 on redwings, they're amazing, especially if you get their heat formed insoles. I paid $180 for slip on steel toe boots, including the insoles. They were/are great, although I quit my machining job 8 months later, oh well. I still wear them often, theyre incredibly comfortable. As a motorcycle rider, they keep my toes from ever getting cold.

Gun/puzzle dude: How do you ever ******* think of something like that, let alone make it?!?!

I love athletic chicks. Not the ones that look butch, but like that pole-vault girl. So sexy.
