Drove the miata to work today since it's like 60 or some nonsense.
It may be the last time.
Unless it's above 50 and sunny again before the shipper truck comes for it.
The power and lack of traction in cool weather make me giddy. I will miss hitting bumps on the freeway while accelerating and how they cause my tires to spin when the car gets light. hur hur hur hurrrrrrrrrr
I will not miss cramming my *** into the tiny hole that is the front seat. or ducking to see stop lights. or swapping cars after dropping off baby in the car with the rear seats+child seat. or being a badass. :S

Supposed to rain up here tomorrow, hopefully that will wash away the salt they dumped down last night. Then hopefully Thursday I can drive the miata to work. Thursdays Meg drops off & picks up the baby at daycare

Hustle, you came from the dark VW side of things so maybe you can help with this: Explain to me why I don't want a relatively unmolested 93 VW Corrado. What do I need to look out for should I explore this car?
Its manual transmission and around 135k miles. As its a 93 itsnot a G60, so that leaves either the VR6 or the 1.8 I4. a VR6. No 4 cylinder option avalible in North America in 93. The car is clean, a coupe, and super cheap. Hard parts should be relatively available. I'm open to feedback from folks with related VW experience. I'm not going to mod it, I just want to drive it.

Hakan the delrin with grease able fittings should be amazing on the car for racing and maintenance. That's why I've wanted to use the mazdaspeed 40% stiffer bushings, easy maintenance. Do you have a mill or do you work with a cnc machine?
And the seller wouldn't accept any type of renovation loan because someone had tried that and strung them out for more than 6 months (hence I am able to get it for so cheap).
Went topless for lunch today. It looked like rain, but never did. I was on the interstate for most of the trip anyway so nbd. Looks dark but not rainy on the way home too, so I'll probably do the same.

VR6 Corrado reliability problems:
- OEM coil packs suck, get Chinese replacements
- "crack pipe" should be replaced with a metal one
- Front control arm pivot bushings are trash, replace with poly (the poly ones last up to 2 years, lol)
- The diff will grenade the stock hardware, replace with Peloquin diff
- VW transmissions are huge pieces of ****. I suggest you buy a 6-speed from a respectable shop like SP with a Quaife.
- Spoiler electronics basically never worked from the factory, won't work now
- sunroof is already broken
- Every switch or sensor on the engine has failed by this point and is probably replaced by a World-Pack sourced part. O'Reilly or Rock-Auto parts are more reliable than the VW Bosch stuff.
Fun Corrado facts and reasons why I still have a powerful lust for them:
- OMFG, they sound awesome
- Turbo parts are cheap and since no one on Earth is dumb enough to track them, you can buy a fairly cheap one and make ~400hp on a stock engine
- OBDI means easy inspection and lots of Megasquirt people working on them
- Awesome interior
- The hood is so long, it's like you're piloting a ship

One could certainly get a loan without a furnace. But it would have to be a 203k or conventional. The ones I qualified for were not those types. Apparently getting a conventional loan for under $50k would be difficult but not impossible, and a conventional loan for a house without a furnace would also be difficult but not impossible. But the 2 together are. Even with the conventional they would have to hold the funds in escrow for the furnace. Maybe because it never gets below 67° where you are so the banks don't give a ****.
Let's say that you buy a new car and finance it. The bank doesn't make you jump through a bunch of hoops just because the car doesn't a turbocharger.
Or if you buy a new house and finance it, there's no question on the loan documentation asking whether the kitchen is equipped with a built-in dishwasher and over-range microwave oven.
In all of these cases, the aforementioned deficiencies are going to be remedied by the owner. If the car doesn't have a turbocharger, you are obviously going to add one. And if the kitchen lacks a dishwasher and a microwave oven, that's obviously going to be fixed within the first week of ownership.
Does the bank care whether the house has central A/C? In Flahrida, that's just as important as having central heat in Hoosierville. Yet I've never heard of a loan being rejected on account of a faulty air conditioner.

I will try to check on the details, but I seem to recall that it has to do with who ends up with the loan. I believe a better analogy (in the minds of the bank, not necessarily from a purely logical perspective) would be trying to take a loan out for a used car that does not have a transmission or a major driveline component.
