What I find especially interesting, in the context of the AN/FSQ-7 being such an amazingly massive computer (the largest, most expensive, and power-hungriest computer ever built, by far) is that it wasn't a one-off deal. They built twenty-four of them, all paid for courtesy of Mr. & Mrs. Taxpayer, as part of the SAGE air defense system.

And nearly as powerful as an 80s vintage HP pocket calculator.

Compared to letting the Russians turn New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and a bunch of other American cities into radioactive smoking craters, that's pretty cheap. The cold war was a strange time.

So that thing on the last page we were discussing, regarding the plastic.
I got in trouble for my response yesterday, this morning.

Kids these days can't take criticism. If I suggest that their theory may be wrong(and prove my own theory) then I end up hurting their feelings.
This is the world we live in now.

proper response is: great. Since you are the one who found this issue, please devise an experiment based on your best hypothesis and test it. i.e. remove the shield and see if hte problem persists.

Unfortunately with pencil pushers, they will make someone else do the work.

I don't want to start a thread on this, but I need some help.
I want to buy oversized oem pistons from mazdaspeed.
They will only sell me the pistons and not the rings, because I'm not a racerboi.
Does anyone know of a source for .030 over oem rings or have a suggestion for an alternative?

I love that hour of the day when you wake up in a friend's basement out in the burbs, two hours outside the city, and realize it's time to reset the house for day 2 of the party.

Party stage, ROUND 2... FIGHT

I slightly OC my gtx 750ti nvidia card. 100mhz gpu and 50mhz memory. Now games that 'struggled' are running like butter

Temps are hot but stable

Just bought DOOM from the steam summer sale 60fps+ ALWAYS

Backup drive just died. Now I need a 3.5" 2TB+ hard drive for cheap. But also reliable, because backup.

Currently choosing between these two.

Truth:

All hard drives are the same, in that you can't reliably predict whether any one specific unit will fail during any specific timeframe.
