My positive battery terminal clamp is no longer tight around the post of the battery when screwed all the way down. Right now I have a copper shim in there that makes about 320° of contact between the post and clamp but that is obviously not a long term solution. What is the "correct" way to fix this?

But then I'd need some sort of big *** monster crimper to get it onto the wire. I'd prefer not not to buy a $75 tool to crimp down a $3 terminal for a one shot job. I was hoping someone knew of something in between the two.

I was under the impression that if I used solder on anything in my car, other than the megasquirt, that all the wires would shatter and the car would explode and never run again. Or something like that. I do have a 200w soldering iron though...
