Today's extended lunch break:

Body is wrecked. No one who owns a bicycle will believe this, but I was able to keep up with two guys on dual suspension Yetis. I know that's supposed to be impossible without spending $5k, but I just did it.

Keeping up with dual-suspensions over mixed terrain including climbs? Sure, I believe it -- your bike is lighter and transfers pedaling power better. You're just going to hurt a bit more at the end of the ride.

People seem to think I made a mistake by not spending $2500+ on a dual bike, that's simply out of my price range and I will probably never have that kind of money for bicycles.

I've known plenty of people who are faster despite the bike they ride.

That strikes me as being similar to saying a Miata can never keep up with a Cayman R on a road course...

Anyone else reading this thread? OP was deleted but summary is that OP drove his E30 into a house, posted about it, then got butthurt when everyone flamed him. Thread takes off as E30 community tries to investigate the incident.

I'm trying to decide what to do with this bike:

I had this discussion with a road-bike ------ and his response was essentially, "why would anyone race a Miata?

Did he understand that the word "race," in come contexts, involves traveling a distance longer than 1/4 mile and not in a straight line?

More like, "race to the valet box".

I really try to avoid the use of the word "epic," unless describing Icelandic or Homeric sagas, but that thread is worthy.

After page 45 or so it goes downhill, as it's just people circlejerking about how great the thread is.

But tbh that thread was worth 15 pages of circlejerking about how awesome it was.

After OP pulled the pics (and before someone posted them back up) someone drew up this piece of artwork:

Hey Hustler try to find a Bontreager off road race. Best of road bike ever made. Can get with front suspension. Last made in 1993. Strongest best bike ever made and light. Trek bought Kieth bontreager out then to get his technology and eliminate some competition. Back then Bontreager sponsored no one yet over 80% of all copetetive racerers were on a Bontreager. Yes I do have an original one. Bought it new and love it. Best money I ever spent.
