I bought an old Honda.
Getting some questions about my new project, so I thought I'd start a thread about it.
I was finally able to buy an NSX. I've wanted one since I can remember and the time was right. I was lucky to find an MTer to ****** up my Greddied '93 (FRT Fun) so I can focus on the new one.
It's a '91, and looks to be well cared for. Bought it off of a guy who was selling to help fund his W2W racing efforts. I actually bought it sight unseen since I was in Afghanistan when I purchased it, so was also lucky to have friends and family willing to work out the transaction and registration.
I was worried about the "never meet your heroes" thing, that I might drive it and find out I hated it, but was assured by some friends who'd bought NSXs that I'd love it. They were right, too. Like the Miata, the shifter falls right into your hand, and it feels like you're operating a rifle bolt it's so rock solid. It corners absolutely flat and drama-free, and while the acceleration is a step backward from my Miata overall, it has a very manageable power delivery.. which is basically another way to say it's slow. But at least it sounds good while it's going slow...

*****SOLD***** Ok here goes to make room for a wheel to wheel race car I have to sell my Beloved NSX. This car has been great to me and I have taken care of her.
Clean title and I have title in hand, 1991 Red 77 with just under 99,000 miles at this time, 5 speed manual, two year old keyless entry key fob, the interior is Black/Ivory the seat centers were redone in black with the sides in original ivory, and the head rests have NSX embroidered in red stiching. I bought in September 2010 since then I have replaced all the cracked ball joint boots and in the process ended up replacing both rear knuckles and rear toe end links. I also replaced the ignigtion switch, main relay, brake master cylinder, new battery the day I bought by PO. Has original freon A/C, I bought but have not installed A/C conversion kit as A/C is still cold. I am the sixth owner it was a Florida car it's whole life till 09/2010 when I brought it to Winston Salem NC. The only bodty work I know of is there was a after market splitter that got beat up from the car being lowered. A new oem front lip was installed. Fresh oil and filter Red Line 30w 3 months 300 miles, 500 miles on Red Line MTF. The timing belt and water pump were done at 88,000 miles. This car is beautiful, runs and drives awesome. Not in snap ring range.

From the FS thread. This is how it was delivered. It's clean, but the side skirts are a bit much IMO and the wheels are a little too blingy.
The first thing I did was replace the Acura badges with Honda ones. So far other than that and painting the little ribs in the bumper mouth black, plus a lot of cleaning, that's all that's been done.
But waiting to go on are:
Enkei RPF1s - 17x8, 18x10
Powerslot rotors, Hawk pads, Motul fluid, etc. for NSXPO/track days (and a dustless pad for the street) and carbon air deflectors for chassis bling
TEIN Mono Flex (JDM version, sprung and valved more softly) w/ EDFC
Urethane rack bushings
Backyard Special side skirts
Backyard Special wing
Shine Type 1 lip
And some other little misc things like magnetic drain plugs and aluminum lug nuts, whatevs.

RPF1s on an NSX? Definitely my friend. I think it's hot. Hot enough to pull off a $3k set of Volks in favor of a $1k set of RPF1s, lol.
I like that they're styled after the wheels Enkei supplies to McLaren. And if you make a bit of a reach, McLaren/Honda.. early '90s car.. it just works for me.

Wow! That looks awesome. I agree, it really matches the car
BTW, I think the RPF-1 is the ultimate Form Follows Function wheel. The "styling" was purely dictated by achieving strength without weight. No accident they're some of the lightest around. Probably why I like them so much.
I'd never heard of cracked frame rails either. I can't remember who said that in the other thread.
I love these cars. Going to the kitchen for a drool container right now.

Damn that looks good.... i tried for the last 5 years i was in missouri to get this guy i knew to sell me his... lol he had a widebody kit, and Black RPF1's that worked really well together. the car sounded sooooo mean too. he said it was boosted, but i never got to see under the hood. always been one of my favorite cars... great buy man!!!

They did have an issue with the frame rails seperating on the earlier models. I would not kick this car out of bed, has always been one of my all time top 10 cars to own.
My friends dad had one he drove daily, I think he had 120k on it when he sold it, rock solid all round.
Search as I might I now cannot find anything about the frame rail issue. I had many NSX guys tell be about it in the 90's. Now I sound crazy.
