No way... that is beyond stupid. Hell even using a sprocket until it wears down like that would be stupid. It is possible with aluminum rear sprockets, but really stupid. Usually they get replaced when/before the tooth wear is even visible at all.

He probably shot his mouth off or cut someone off in traffic and that's what happens. I doubt it has anything to do with that thread. People like that get that crap all the time, and never figure out why.
