The slowest speed of any test I've ever done on my mobile. Typically I get around 2.0mbps down and 512k up. Not a bad latency on this test though.

Yeah, but I use a T-mobile pre-paid unit. For the relatively limited amount that I use it, it costs me about $30 during months when I'm mostly on the road, and nothing when I'm at home.

I know- excuses, excuses... What can I say, I'm a cheapskate by upbringing.

Don't forget the fact that those 3g unlimited data plans actually have a 5GB cap. Also, they have god awful pings. I tried playing CS in a hotel one time on my Verizon aircard and it was a slideshow.

Ok, everyone's still posting their speed tests to show just how much bigger their dick is than mine.

I just took one from the jobsite, where I'm leeching off of CBS's LAN. Who can beat 5ms ping and 51Mb/s upstream?

Apparently I just have to figure out y8s' "secret" for unlimited data. As to ping time, I don't play online videogames.

Anybody ever try bittorrent over 3G? Was it allowed?

waitaminut. where did you go and take cats?

also: our cats would have been a mishmash of fur and cat meat if they were in the same carrier.

btw, anyone know the real word for "cat meat" like venison for deer or beef for cows?

Comcast apprently turned on speedbooster for this test. I wish my torrents would go this fast and that comcast wouldnt throttle my http traffic while torrenting.

So thats why you were not on gmail today Scott. I was bored at work and had no one to talk to.

Interesting...

In 2006, in the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, a restaurant called Fangji Cat Meatball was the subject of considerable protest. (source: EastSouthWestNorth: The Shenzhen Cat Meatball Restaurant)

There is an online cat butchery, which refers to their product as simply "kitty beef". Online Cat Meat Butcher, Buy Cat Meat Online, Kitty Beef

Here is a page which describes the proper way to skin, prepare, and cook a cat: How to Eat Cats

In wartime Great Britain, cat meat earned the nickname "roof-rabbit". CATS - FRIEND OR FOOD

Lots of other articles about the consumption of cat by various cultures, but none of them seem to yield a specific noun to describe the meat.

Sidebar:

A former co-worker of mine, who prior to joining Harris was the chief engineer of a directional AM station in Memphis, tells an interesting story.

For those not familiar with AM transmission equipment, we're typically dealing with power levels of 25-50 kilowatts at the bigger stations, and in AM, the tower itself is the radiating element. Directionalizing an AM signal (focusing the signal over a specific area to maximize coverage of a population center, or nulling it out of an area to avoid interfering with another station) is done by erecting multiple towers and varying the phase and magnitude of the signal hitting each one. Imagine ripples in a pond interacting with one another. At the base of every tower is a box called the ATU, or Antenna Tuning Unit, which consists of a bunch of large coils and capacitors designed to match the imperfect load of the antenna to the source impedance of the phasor, which is what distributes the signal from the transmitter to all the towers. Here is a typical ATU:

(note that the young woman is not typical. Transmitter engineers, without exception, are all fat grumpy old men.)

One cold spring morning, one of the towers in the array went completely out of whack. This is sometimes caused by ice forming on the tower, however on the morning in question it was dry and clear. The tower was de-energized and switched out of the array, and the ATU opened for inspection. Inside the ATU, lying on the bottom, was the mostly-intact head of a large cat. No other recognizable portion of the cat was found, though every square inch of the interior of the box was coated in blood, charred meat and burnt fur. I am told that cat remains are surprisingly difficult to remove from tuning coils.

Moral of the story: A cat is capable of passing through an opening no larger than its own *******, and they tend to seek out warm places to rest during periods of cool weather. ATUs tend to run warm, and cats tend to react explosively with high voltage, high current RF devices. Make sure all external openings of your tuning network are properly sealed.

Let me show you some typical transmitter engineers:

So yes, in the proper context (the floor of a trade show, where she has no choice but to listen tolerantly to their stupid stories and lewd comments) the office accountant is considered to be sufficiently hot to double as the booth babe and save them the cost of hiring a model.

I should add that at the Sony, JVC, Ikegami, Grass Valley and Panasonic booths (where they draw a much younger and hipper crowd) no expense whatsoever is spared on the plethora of booth babes.

Joe already alluded to this, but I'm pretty sure I once saw it described as "sweet and sour chicken." I cannot be absolutely certain, but something wasn't right at the Hunan Golden Dragon. It was definitely NOT chicken.

150k download and 80k upload at my dads in Tok. 1GB upload/download limit per month for $39.99.

Quitcherbitchin

Pretty sure my iphone on edge is faster. I'd actually do a speedtest there but i'd hate to waste the bandwidth.

I lied. 20 kbps down and 47 up on the iphone using edge in the alaska interior.

Basic Charter high speed in **** town Alabama. It gets the job done until I can justify paying to upgrade to higher speed. I have no other company options right now.

... and just noticing, WTF is up with my up speed. Good god. I haven't checked my speeds in a while, but its worse than I remember. Feel like I'm living in 2001.
