Default I humbly admit....

Well, I've been here in Texas for the past few days...came in Thursday and here it is Sunday and I'm here until Tuesday. Flew into Houston and drove over to Austin for ACL and to poke around. I have to say, Atlanta ******* sucks and I don't really want to go back. My goal of getting the **** out of that shithole state has been reinforced. I base this mostly off being in Austin and we'll see how it goes as we venture around Houston. But so far...I like this place.

I love Whataburger.
I love Taco Cabana.
The roads here ******* rock- every intersetion on any busy road involves a mass of bridges.
Austin is less "Mexican" than Atlanta. (yeah, I just said that).
I am looking forward to coming out again next year.

That is all for now.

LOL glad you like it. You can take a trip a few hours north too, I think it is just Atlanta that sucks, it is like the ******* of the south.

If you like Austin, you may like Portland. The two have been compared to one another multiple times. Just sayin.

Consider your hobby if you move, man. You don't want to accidentally move to an area subject to more draconian car-mod rules. Texas in general ought to be fairly safe though. Dunno about Austin. I met plenty of Texans when I was there who refused to acknowledge Austin as part of Texas, lol.

I am planning on going on a road trip there in January and then try to move out next summer if I like the state. I think Hustler said 8 tracks within 5 hours. I could live with that.

Koto is on target; Austin has some of the stricter rules in Texas.

Spend some time in San Antonio. All the "big city" perks while maintaining a small town feel. Easy access to the Hill Country. Austin is about 90 minutes away. Houston in under 3 hours. Dallas, 5 hours.

Oh, and Corky, his shop and associated toys is a mere 35 minute jaunt from my driveway...

Austin sucks, don't move there. Too many hippies, high property taxes, too many Coloradans, Californians, and Dallas people. I'm not looking forward to moving there when my GF finishes her PhD.

Just don't go to Beaumont. You'll instantly change your mind about Texas. Houston is pretty decent. I can't stand the humidity though.

Austin is awesome to visit... I'll probably live there for a bit when I get out of the military. They have one of the best Persian-Farsi programs there.

The only good thing in GA is Road Atlanta... and maybe Atlanta Motorsports Park when it opens... we'll have to do a weekend at RA sometime before you haul ***.

Parts of east TN and the Carolinas are pretty nice, much better than the parts of Atlanta I've seen.

TX has a lot more tracks near it than east TN and Carolinas.... combined lol.

Well, we're in Houston for the next couple of days. Austin was nice to visit. Didn't mingle with the people very much though...other than ACL, but that doesn't count. I had fun Sat. night sitting outside my hotel smoking a sig at 2:30 when 6th street was shutting down and watching the ***** walking down the street looking like drunk giraffes trying to walk lol

As for the humidity...Atlanta has it..plenty of it along with terrible air quality (not too far off L.A.'s air problem). Property taxes might be higher, but the lack of income tax can quickly make up for that. We'll see how the next couple of days go though. I just like the variety of food so easily found around here. Oh and we stopped at Buck-ee's and picked up some Beaver Nuggets lol

What makes you say that?
At that you were down in the ghetto of Savanna. I've never been down there though, but everyone I know who has done any kind of visiting/living will say the same about that place.

Sounds like you need to get out and visit a few places outside of Texas

Come to Atlanta..where all you'll hear on the news is murder, robbery, traffic problems, thugs stealing ATMs (several a night), thugs trashing stores just to steal some jeans, DOT spending MILLIONS of dollars on adding crosswalks and lighting for the mexicants to cross the street "safer" yet completely ignoring it and still getting hit. Here you will find a city mayor (actually, a history of mayors) who don't get anything done but run the city into sever budget issues, a governor that doesn't give two ***** about the people in the state -traffic as bad as L.A. but NO plans to impliment new solutions and every plan to add new roads are shot down. Or this awesome plan to keep adding new "laws" to generate revenue unfairly.

I'd rather live in a place of "hippies" who are more concerned about progress and the people around them. Overall, Austin was much cleaner (physically) than Atlanta and that feeling of ghetto wasn't there.
