A guy I know has an E30 M3, less than 36k miles, '88, kind of a gun-metal grey color. It's just about perfect, very well cared for/maintained, just had BMW dealer service at 30k mi. This guy has never even driven it in the rain, it is totally babied.

The prices on these things are pretty high these days. Anyone out here in Miata-land know what something like this is worth? I'd hate to see him get effed by some douche-dealer.

Granted, there were those two barn find ones linked here last week. But, other than those, you may be hard pressed to find one with less miles/better condition than this one.

He doesn't drive it a dozen times all year, and not till late may up here in salt-hell, NY.

It's worth nothing, and actually it's quite dangerous. It doesn't brake, steer, or shift automatically. It won't alert the appropriate government agencies when you crash. It contains no explosive devices in the interior compartment to protect you. Basically, it's a death trap.

Fortunately, I'm quite experienced in disposing of these dangerous items. Ship it to me and I'll take care of everything.

8-10k would be for a ragged out piece of ***** in the E30 M3, imo. I've seen plenty of these beaters on the road. This is not one of them. It is as close to new as you can get with a car of this age. I don't think this dude would even consider selling for less than 20k, it simply wouldn't be worth it to him.

They are worth more than the E36's at this point, especially in good condition.

I think, purely as a driver, and to me all cars are/should be drivers, the E36 would be better. But, the E30 M3 has some magical desirability to some people. For this fact, someone probably would buy my friend's car for some pretty good money. I guess it would just need the right buyer.

I'm gonna agree with this 100%. Re-Read your first post and noticed the mileage, I'd say 20 would be a starting point. There is just something about them, and if I had it I'd pay it. Those E30s are flat out SEXY.

Typically, so I hear from the BMW boards, is that mint e30's (and no issues) will cost a buyer 18k no matter how you slice it. So either buy it for 18k and do nothing, or buy it for 8k and put 10k into it. He should be looking for an enthusiast buyer, and not some dealer trade in crap.

If it's as described, more than 15k. Low mileage will get higher numbers. He should get top dollar for his. Post your question and some pics on the bigger forums (bimmerforums.com) and you will get tons of replies, if not a buyer.

Honestly put it on a the biggest bmw board out there with a "low mileage m3 value" title with a very detailed post on it with tons of pictures asking how much its worth and let the pm offers begin.

Not many, but a few minty, low milage (not that barn find low milage, but under 50k like the one you mention), all original E30 M3s have touched the 20k+ mark. Try s14.net for a better gauge.

I honestly don't have enough interest in it to post on another board, but I will tell the other guy to troll around a little. Thanks for the ideas on the boards to post to.

I don't have any pics, but really this thing is as good as described. Except for two tiny issues, being a small blemish on one door and a missing emblem on a wheel cap, it presents as new. If it were mine, I would fix these and ***** it to get the last buck. This dude babies it way beyond what I am even comfortable with, it has literally never seen a drop of rain. All maintenance was completed by the BMW dealer, to the book.

We were both thinking 20k plus maybe a bit after poking around a little. It would obviously take just the right person to buy it. Probably someone for whom it was just another toy in a big collection, and the difference between a 10K POS and this one for 20-25 wouldn't be an issue.

[Flame Suit]I just don't get it. I'd rather a cheesy E36, maybe 328, the right Turner mods, and I would eat any E30 for lunch. That's just me, though. I would, however, pay too much for a Lancia Delta Integrale, but we all have our fetishes.

Oh, and it's a US Spec M3. I'm not aware if there are generally any options on these, and I don't know what it has. It is original, to the stereo, speakers, wheels, etc etc. Grey, like a gun metal color.

15k easily. The owner of the M3 that is stored at my house is selling his for 10k and its a ragged beat to **** track car with no interior and straight pipe catless, mufflerless exhaust.

I'd say they're worth it though unlike some of the other fanboy rare cars. In my opinion though they are at home in performance driving conditions, not being babied.
