Default Post your 'sold' turbo miata for-sale ad.

As some of you know, my car was t-boned by a 17 year young idiot in a 2010 Challenger who ran a red light . I am trying to find as many examples of cars that match my specs and year as closely as possible because the insurance company agreed to compensate for the cost of all of my after market parts. They usually balance between KBB value and what miatas actually sell for in the private realm. They agreed to use sold turbo miatas as evidence to raise the value along with the KBB value and aftermarket part receipts from the vendors I purchased from as limiting factors.

So if you or anyone you know has sold their '97 +/- with 90k miles +/- with similar parts in my sig, please post here or post a link to the ad.

I know this is a weird request but anything helps and it's rare that insurance guys will be this cooperative.

I think you just need to find a site focused on turbo miatas and search the classifieds.

Best of luck with that

Maybe I will try miataturbo.net, I heard there are a lot of turbo Miatas for sale there...

I am going through these classifieds... just trying to expand my results a bit. The more evidence the better...

It won't help you that modded cars typically don't raise in value.

Maybe what you are asking for is the ads that we sometimes link to where we're poking fun at the seller over his asking price.

Default I sold this for $4500 - Does this help <G>...

LIGHTWEIGHT TURBOCHARGED 1991 MIATA RACECAR - $4500

Yes, I am selling my pride and joy. The car that I have sweated my *** off while building over the last 5 years. During that time I have gashed my head open, busted my knuckles, dripped oil in my eyes, and racked my shins on the lift while getting this car as light and as fast as I can. Why am I selling it? Because my wife thinks her precious new car should sit in the garage while mine sits outside with stray dogs pissing on it. Yeah, urine does wonders for racing slicks. It makes me sick to my stomache to think one of you homos will be out on the track in my car while I sit here nutless with her on the couch watching Oprah. I tried selling it on Ebay but let's face it - you guys wouldn't know a good deal if it was jammed up your *** sideways. I actually had multiple people bidding less than $1000 for this thing. Are you guys ******* stupid? I've also advertised it on Craigslist before and it seems like you guys just don't get it. It is a ******* race car for Christ's sake!

Q: How much mileage does it get?
A: How the **** should I know and why should I give a ****! If you want to spend the weekend driving your "room mate" across state line to complete his sex change operation then this is probably the wrong car for you.

Q: Can I use it as a daily driver?
A: Are you stoned or something? I guess if you want to drive a car with no A/C, no PS, no windows/top/wipers/heat back and forth to work to be look cool you could try. The truth is that you are still a loser though and the car won't help. No wonder you didn't get that promotion to assistant night manager at Waffle House.

Q: Is that the gas tank in the trunk?
A: Hey dumbshit, the caption above the picture says that it is a reservoir tank for the water injection. That didn't stop the questions so I put text on the picture that clearly states this THREE TIMES and I still get asked. I swear to God that if I get asked that one more time I am going to start shooting.

Q: I have a Honda that is really fast.
A: Sure you do! I don't know why you are emailing to tell me this but I don't give a ****. My car will run circles around your peice of ****. I don't understand why you guys come up to me on the street and want to race. You have a big air filter on a bone stock engine and a coffee can sized chrome tip bolted on the end of your stock exhaust. Yeah, your car is really ******* fast! You see my exhaust? No you don't because it is a cherry bomb that dumps under the car. It is for airflow not show.

Q: Does the car have a turbo timer? I met a guy once who had one and he is now my hero.
A: No, I don't need a turbo timer because the turbo is water cooled. Stop with the turbo timer bullshit already. The car doesn't have a turbo timer, huge tach on the dash, stupid ******* wings on the back, or any APC stickers on it. That **** does not make your car fast and only makes you look like a douche.

Q: dUdE, dOeS yOuR sIcK rIdE hAvE NAWZ?
A: Shut the **** up! Your mother should have aborted you!

Q: Tell me more about your car.
A: Holy ****, someone actually asking a real question! Go to my website www.lightweightmiata.com and look at the description and hundreds of pictures I took while building the car. If you still have questions drop me an email and I can answer anything you need to know.

+1 - modified cars generally dont raise resale value

But that has nothing to do with the OPs car.

OP, if the insurance company wants to give you resale value for your car, tell them to **** OFF - You weren't trying to sell it, you were trying to drive it. The cars economic value is what it would cost for you to end up with a vehicle which was identical to yours pre-crash.

I know if someone totaled my car, and the insurance company only wanted to give me 'resale' value, I'd be suing the guy that hit me for another $20k.

Also, don't let the insurance company try to claim that 'your' insurance company would have only given you $5k if YOU had totaled your car.

In the end, it's not the insurance company's responsibility to pay for your car, it's the personal responsibility of the DRIVER. The insurance company merely has a contract with the driver to pay for the expenses that the driver incurs.

I'm not sure if this helps or not but my next to perfect red 92 with an upgraded JRSC got totaled a few years ago. The insurance company wanted to give me book value ($3,000??? I can't remember). I wanted $10,000 + the wrecked car. I had actually WAY overpaid for the car @ $9000 a year earlier but I told them I did mods to it and demanded the extra money. In the end I let them drag me along for around a month. Then I made a call to their office (the guy who was working with me) a few minutes before they opened. I wanted to make sure I got an answering machine so I could wuss out and do it without anyone arguing with me. I left a message saying that it had been a month, I had been renting a car for 30 straight days (not 100% truthful <G>), and was going to revisit my injuries and sue the hell out of them. In the end I got $7500 plus the car back which got parted out for around $4500 or so.

Good luck...
