I was intrigued by the Taurus PT111 Millenium Pro. I did some searching (wasn't successful on what I was looking for) but did find an interesting picture. The gun on the bottom is what I have in my pocket (at least I think it is in there now - really can't feel it) right now:

I believe as long as its concealed its legal... I'm still a minor so I would get my *** kicked by a cop if they found it. By the time I am legal to carry I will most likely be living in NY. I do love to shoot. Especially with a .45; Guns are a love/hate relationship.

Ive had thoughts of buying a blade but I have a fear that it would work against me more than for me... If someone were to start a fist fight than a blade is found on me I would get fucked like a squealing pig.

^The most important advice in this thread. I own a couple of the guns mentioned in this thread already and even though I bought them for carry guns I don't carry them because they are too heavy, cumbersome, and squared off (looks too much like a gun under your shirt or in your pocket; obviously a bigger problem in a warmer climate, or in your case summertime). Many of the composite (plastic) guns are somewhat light when empty, but have such a large capacity (and lead is heavy) that they end up hard to carry when you are in shorts and a Miataturbo.net T-shirt.

Because it is a daily carry gun it will pick up plenty of pocket lint, body sweat, dust, and debris over time. The world is not a pristine environment and reliability is my primary concern. Semi-autos require a more pristine environment by design. After carrying the same weapon for 8 years and only cleaning and firing it bi-annually in the last few years (yes, I should practice more) I can say that I am very happy with my everyday gun.

I carry an alloy frame ultralight .38 Special made by Taurus. It is much lighter than it looks. And it has a much thinner profile than my 9mm's. With a thin leather holster with a little clip, it hides nicely on my belt against my belly under a t-shirt, in the pocket of my shorts or jeans, or on my belt against the small of my back. Getting the right holster is VERY important. I bought five before I found the best one. The best part about the belt clip on the holster is that it helps to break up the outline of the gun if it is in my pocket. It looks like a large cell phone.

If you buy a carry gun, make it your constant companion, your silent passenger.

Available brand new locally for $299. This only weighs 17 oz. There is a titanium version that weighs 2 ounces less for hundreds more dollars, but it isn't worth it. I also often carry a speedloader in my other pocket. It divides up the weight of extra bullets. But I've always thought that if I couldn't hit a guy with the first three shots, I'd probably have difficulty proving in court that I was close enough to be in eminent danger. I should probably be escaping instead.

I've got more guns than I need, but 90% of the time, one of 2 guns is within reach.

In my workbag, every day. Within arm's reach when I'm driving or at my desk. 10+1 rounds of .45 plus a spare mag.



When I carry on my person, I'll often take my Kahr P45 or P9 Covert, depending on what I'm wearing and how much I need to conceal it. But if I'm taking a walk through the neighborhood or something, this gets tucked in the waistband. No fussing with a holster, no fumbling with a pocket gun, it's secure and easy to grab.

This will sound stupid...but I used to only put five rounds in my carry clip.

My home clip is always fully loaded with CorBon...but I put PowerBalls in my carry clip as they're supposedly jam resistant, and slightly lighter.

The five round idea came about when, after several years of gradually pushing local cases towards the side of the person defending themselves, a few idiots fired at criminals in questionable circumstances and swayed public opinion against gunowners.

I loaded 5 only (and took pictures) under your same logic. If I needed more than 5 rounds I was unjustified (or would have a hard time proving it). I also hoped that this forethought would demonstrate to a jury that my first course of action would be to avoid any altercation.

I figured if we qualified with five rounds for the CCW, it would make sense to use that many. Gun weight was better, as was balance.

I've since wised up a little, and realized it's my right to carry as many full mags as I feel necessary.


Hopefully it never matters.

I catch a lot of heat over my toy gun. It would not be my #1 choice as a self defense weapon and I have had to learn to use it because it does feel a little funny in my hand. However, I did use it to qualify for my CWP (scored a 98% on the test with it). The reason I chose it is because I can carry it anywhere and can just barely feel it in my pocket. If the worst happens and I need to defend myself or my wife it WILL be there and that is the most important thing.

Three things to remember (these have to do with the small caliber and not gun dimensions but I thought I would post them anyway):
1) The first rule of a gun fight is to bring a gun.
2) A 32 in the pocket is better than a 357 in the gun safe.
3) Hitler and Archduke Ferdinand were killed with 32's. If it was good enough to do them in it is good enough for Joe Criminal <G>.

I wasn't all that focused on doing a perfect launch - I just wanted to get the tires spinning ASAP because I had to rotate the tail end to clear the cars in the next lane.

It's a shame CA is a may-issue (read: won't issue) state. I enjoyed Ben's thread on finding a pistol that would fit into the Miata's center console - I think he ended up with a Kel-Tec.

Your examples are 1) a zero range self-inflicted head shot, which BTW was combined with a cyanide pill and 2) a shot "lucky" enough to hit the carotid and spine. If you can reliably place shots like that while being carjacked or mugged then a NAA mini revolver in .22lr would make a "good enough" carry piece. I like mouse guns as much as the next guy (I often carry a .38spl J-frame ) but your examples suggest you may have unreasonably lofty expectations of the .32.

This reminds me I'm still half-assedly looking for something like a P3AT or LCP for summer. The latest issue of AR (the NRA magazine) has brief reviews of nine different compact .380s.

I read this thread yesterday and started to type a long explanation of how good it would feel to make a messy parking lot out of would be car thieves. Then I deleted it all and figured I'd check tonight and see how this went from "my **** almost got jacked" to "I have a bigger caliber handgun that you". I'm in for this game. My Glock 19 with a 10 round mag fits perfectly in my console, right next to my 33 round mag. Want to try to steal my car while I'm sitting in it?

I can't manipulate the wife's P3AT. It isn't that the grip is so narrow (and it is), but that it is so close a distance between where my thumb webbing meets the back of the grip and the location of the trigger. I have great difficulty grabbing it quickly and holding it straight and then finding the trigger without fumbling. So check the fit with your hand size.

The .32 is a lot less powerful than a .38 Special, but there have been plenty of people killed in bars and nightclubs with measly .25's and .22lr's. The mafia used to use the small caliber pocket guns for "hits" and executions because they didn't make as much noise or make as much mess (evidence).

That being said, I carry the largest caliber I can live with day in and day out being constantly on my person. And it just fits under the lid of the center console in the Miata if I need to put it there.

My friend has the Ti version and I would definitely say the thing is light as hell. I'm pretty sure he got a really good deal on it. Surprisingly it doesn't feel like a toy either.
