The Nissan dealer my dad bought his M3 from ran one for him at no charge. Just ask the dealer for one.

what is is, a 300?

the 400/430/whatever they call it now is a v8. neat car but not very durable.

If its not the straight 6 its the 400 or 430.. they are the only ones that came with the V8. The 300 came with the 2JZGE motor shared with the IS300. Slow POS unless turboed. I dont know why you would want the inline 6, since its like a mid 7s 0-60 where the v8 is like mid 5.

EDIT** after running the VIN its a GS300, which means you do have an inline6?

duh. inline6. the v6 didn't come until 3rd gen. i'm totally wrong.

why don't i want the GS430? i do. but i'm not the primary driver nor the purchaser. and the v8 guzzles more gas. this thing will be driven to/fro work at about 80mi/day. don't need a v8 to cruise at 75mph for an hour straight.

i like straight 6s. torquey n smooth.

as far as durability.. consumer reports put Lexus ES/LS at the highest of the 200K mile spectrums. GS may not be AS reliable, but according to this thread, they seem to be holding up just fine. Not to mention they're totally cheap to maintain here in SoCal.

i'm keeping the s2000 as the weekend car, so i think the combination still works well for the 2 of us: new-ish GS300, cherry s2000, beater miata.

I hate to be the killer of hopes and dreams here but heres some facts:

I just sold my 2JZGTE IS300 with 89k on the clock, buying anything powered by that motor for either A) torque or B) gas mileage (18/25) is kinda silly. The IS300 got nearly the same gas mileage as my 3.7L Liberty (19mpg vs 21mpg combo C/Hwy). I know what the sticker says but I definitely disagree. As far as the torque, the IS was probably the slowest, least torquey car i've driven.

The car sure is great to drive, it IS smooth and is reliable as hell. When I had sold the car the only things I had changed in like 3-4 years was fluids, and a light bulb!

besides, anything from lexus is quality, its thier business moto...highest quality and consumer reports swers by it...GS are nice, i cant afford one, even used, but they are nice, I6 or V8, they are all good cars, just take care of it, and the fact that its a lease car, should make you even more comfortable, the acr had to be in good shape for lexus to take it back or they will chagre you for full recon...so go get it tiger, and make sure you ask for as many *** kisses as you please :gay:

that's all i need to hear really

cuz i'm her personal backyard mechanic. and i don't wanna fix ****. she's dead set on this Rexxus, her first choice being a '06 SLK. it was hard to convince her out of that, but once she saw the amortized cost...

i'm completely aware of the gas hog nature of the 2JZ, but we can't find a GS430 she's willing to pay for at the moment... so all i can say to myself is: well, it's got 2 less cylinders and i'm NOT paying for 20 gal of premium gas

btw all, i appreciate you *******' feedback. smart *** or otherwise.

I didn't say they're not reliable. They are. They're not durable. Materials quality isn't any better than a Camry. They start getting ratty (paint, leather surfaces, trim, switches, etc) but still work right.

Kind of the opposite of MB. My Benz looks NEW when it's clean at 130k miles. However the ****** is always broken.

MB=
Rex=
:gay:
they have come a long way in build quality, in mid 90's is when they had problems with material quality, but its improved a lot since then...
so no worries...Lexyota is a graet car, i wish i had one, and cruising highways, you should be ok even on gas, it sip once its already moving...reason City sux is cause it a lot of car for the little 2JZ
good luck in your purchase

Just for reference, the ECU adapts to whatever octane you run in it. So if she's not driving it hard, you can get away with midgrade or whatever This did come in handy when I was at one of those interstate gas stations where the prices were jacked to hell. Premium did get to be pricey

Not knockin my Explorer though. My PAID OFF EXPLORER.
Got the title last month. No car payments here!

I never dissed the car at all... I just pointed out gas mileage and torque. If anything I gave a good review, especially by the standards I judge cars. (I'm a bit harsh).
