My Dumbass Wrenching Mistake
So I've been without the Miata for close to two weeks.
Changed coils/CAS/Plugs/Plugwires in my effort to find my lack of spark. After troubleshooting everything and trying to figure out why it would work sometimes but not others, I open up the Megasquirt.
On the inside, the main wire set that goes across the board was halfway loose. Half was plugged in, the other half not. I assume this is why it worked sometimes and other times it ran on 2cyl.
**** my life, 200$ in spare parts (I guess its good to have a spare coilpack and CAS).
Here is a progression of emotions in smilies:

That's what I said when I bought another set of coils and it didn't solve a problem years ago. Ended up needing new plug wires.
Since then, I've tried swapping those coils in to solve various problems, never once have the coils ever been at fault. In fact I have no idea if the original coils or my 'spare' set are currently in the car.
Moral of the story: you don't need a spare set of coils.
