Default Termites!!!

Well I guess living in the woods means EVERY pest problem imaginable.

Now we're having a termite issue. So yesterday we went to Lowes to get some stuff. When we came back home I dug a ditch around the house, filled it with rock salt and soaked it with water.

I took today off and I've been crawling around under the house spraying ortho max defense on all the floor joists and perimeter of the house.

This place is just an old summer camp dwelling converted into a rent-able space. So there's no basement floor (ratslab) nor a proper foundation. Termites, ant, spiders, mice, chipmunks, frogs, snakes, etc all just live under there.

I have roughly 3' of clearance to crawl around in the dirt, but in some spots the only way to get around is to lay flat and pull with your arms under the floor joists. Meanwhile all in the pitch black, or really only what the flashlight shows, which is spider webs everywhere. Basically a nightmare for me.

So far I just sprayed a gallon in the area I think they're coming from, but I'm going back under now. Between the mass dust and chemical mist I needed to take a break. Just thought I'd share another adventure with you guys. Anyone have any good termite solutions to suggest? Or is what I'm doing pretty much the thing to do?

I had serious ant problems and tried everything Lowes and nothing helped, then went online and got profesional stuff. Taurus SC is what I got, it works for ants and termites. Just followed the label and no ants for about 5-6 months, assuming the results for termites would be about the same. Kill'em! Kill'em dead!

You are renting the house correct? Call your land lord and have him deal with the termites. It is not your responsibility. Also document every time you call the land lord so that if he does nothing you have things to back up your side of the story.

I got the feeling that he purchased the house with the intention of renting it out - either as a residence or as a vacation property? Could be wrong though.

Move, just move. Also, I fixed this for you:

Termites, ant, spiders, mice, chipmunks, frogs, snakes, etc all just live under there.

Is this a house you bought recently? How did you close without getting a WDIR?

Okay, renting, not buying.

So why are you crawling around underneath the house with poison instead of calling your landlord?

Indeed if renting it's his *** on the line, you shouldn't be spending your money which you could spend on miata parts when the termites are his job.

Seriously, stop ----ing with it and call your landlord. If your landlord won't/can't deal with it and YOU cant live with it, then its time to GTFO.

Having lived "innawoods" (36 20.6225 - 121 48.3375) for 3+ years off the grid, I'm uniquely qualified to tell you something you don't want to hear:

YOU CAN'T WIN AGAINST NATURE

You are living in a box made of filet mignon and filled with ferrero rocher to everything that's out there in the woods. You are going to have to figure out how to ignore it and enjoy the experience, or you are going to need to move. Its that simple.
